johnnzen, 5%? Why such a low shot?

vvoc, sorry to break this to you but you have very close to no chance of getting into UCLA with a 3.38 GPA.

I definitely would still apply if I was vvoc, just because i'd rather try than never know. It's at 5% because community college students are prioritized over other UC students. Plus, community college students have the aid of TAP and IGETC. vvoc would need to score above a 3.7 to have a competitive chance of getting in. Bio is also notated as an impacted major.

Unless vvoc had some hook, like he did alot of advanced undergrad research, or took numerous upper division courses, debilitating illness, then his chances i'd say would dramatically increase past the +/-10%.

What about me...BizEcon with a 3.79 from another UC. Could you please rate me?

hmm... you have a decent chance.

between 40-60% :D, depending on your essay.

ic..well i guess thats good to know, i can stay realistic... as for the part of the application asking for awards and ec's...if mine r more or less filled up.. thats a plus? but im assuming at such a low gpa, UCLA wont even care...right? lol thanks

chance me... I have a 3.9, some ec's and im working on a bad essay. Im also from a ccc. soci major and I really want to go to berkeley. please.

Did anyone receive this message when trying to submit:

?

Angljc your chances as good provided you write a good essay. From the essay writing books i'm reading, a bad essay is grounds for rejection no matter how great the applicants grades are.

Major: Economics
UC GPA: 3.5
E.C. - Some Clubs
Applying: All of them
First Choice: UC Berkeley or UCSD.

johnnzen, sorry to bother, but could you give me your opinion of my chances please? Thanks.

Lets see...if I remember correctly the avg. gpa for BusEcon admits is 3.81. For UC to UC transfers, I'd guess the adjusted avg. gpa would be 3.85-3.95. According to your post history, that C+ in Calc II will be very damaging.

I'd put your chances the same As dhl3's estimates, 40-60%.

Btw, does your school have +/- grading?

Thanks johnnzen and dhl, your inputs are much appreciated.

And yes, my school does have + / - grading, the only thing that sucks is that an A+ is just 4 points.

So, if you were wondering:

A+, A = 4
A- = 3.7
B+ = 3.3
B = 3
B- = 2.7
C+ = 2.3

etc.

So who here isn't done with their essays yet?

Mi! i m still strugglin with the essay....

I haven't started

I am done with my 200 word ones, I pretty much did in fact finish them all, already. But my 600 word one sucks so I am re-doing it all over.
This is the 3rd time I am re-doing it. :(

I hope to be done by Wednesday!! YIKES!

May i know what which part of the statement did u all choose to write the 600 words? Cuz i oso kind tink of what to write

Did anyone get a weird message when clicking submit? about verifying courses?

i was wondering if there was an actual section that asks for your GPA, or they derive it electronically from the grades you submitted? please help. thanks
