you would choose ucsb over sd?

i would...

whats wrong with sd? lol i heard people there are ugly or something..

even if the people at sd are somewhat less attractive than those at sb, who cares? My friends at sb say it's all about the partying and after a year there you're damn near tired of it. I'd much rather go to the better school, and then just party with friends at sdsu and usd...not to mention the fact that mexico is only a short drive away hahaa ;) but that's just me...

it's actually kinda ironic that i feel this way now, since i was admitted to ucsd as a freshman, but chose not to go particularly because i was worried i'd have no social life. i looove where i go to school now (american university in washington, dc), but i miss ca and the beautiful weather haha so hooopefully they'll let me in again :)

better have a passport if you want into mexico. ucsd is awesome for surfing and mellow laid back hanging with your friends. kinda boring area but nice if you enjoy relaxing and taking in the sights.

The biggest problem i have with ucsd is that it has no transfer housing. That, above all else, makes me not want to go there...

As for UCLA/UCSB...

I'd say both schools are similar in the sense that they provide an outside combination of social life + academics. And even though I love UCSB and would be extremely happy there, I also love UCLA. In fact, I love it so much that I decided to spend another year at JC so that I could finish my honors units and be a (TAP) student.

Oh wow. Did you apply twice did you wait till after getting 15 units to apply for the first time?

Last year I applied with a low gpa(3.27), missing pre-reqs, and no EC's. I was rejected from UCLA and Berkeley but I got into UCSD. I passed up UCSD, stayed at my JC, finished 12 more honors units, and was just (TAP) certified this past week.

This year I applied to UCLA, UCSB, UCI, and UCSD.
3.40 gpa
all pre-reqs done
(TAP) certified

So yeah...I think I've made myself a much more attractive candidate this year...:)

good luck coast.

why not berkeley this time?

Thanks ilc! ;)

As for why no Berkeley this year...

It's basically a personal decision. My mom has been sick, and I don't want to go too far from home (orange county). Even SB is kind of pushing it, but it's at least manageable (I hope). :)

sb is definately manageable, i drove home from sb at like 12 am and i got home like 1:30 am lol! so its not THAT FAR! I live in LA, and isnt the OC like 40 mins from LA? so thats like...almost 2 hours and 30 mins total from where u are...

wait, i actually would liek to mention that it depends on traffic cuz one time, it took me nearly 3-4 hours to get there on heavy traffic...the 405 sux around 4-5pm

Yeah...it's anywhere from 3 to 4 hours, depending on traffic. That's alot better than 8-10 hours from Berkeley...:)

yea!

on another note, WTH? did any of you guys know that ucsd does not have housing for transfer students!!! how do they expect transfer students go to to their school? i guess i wont be going or something...

hey - question. did any oos students apply last year without all prereqs, but with strong gpas? anyone know how much that will that affect your application? i mean... am i automatically screwed, or do i have a decent shot?

mojo, ya I knew that ucsd doesnt offer housing..

bump, thats jacked up!

socal. you need all the pre-reqs, especially if your oos. you never have a decent shot as an oos lol

dont know where your applying, but if its berkeley or la..good luck = )

You don't always need all prereqs... It depends on which UC and which major.

For example, the CS major I'm applying to at Berkeley doesn't require applicants to complete all prereqs.
