University of California Transfer Students Fall 2007 OFFICIAL THREAD!!!

but he can decide to be an ass and do that.

The reason for not being to attend is personal, but irregardless, I never paid the app fees to begin with, because of said (or unsaid) reason. So, I'm not going to find out.

I was one of the lucky ones that got into both UCB and UCLA last year. For UCB's L&S... they accept transfers in as undeclared regardless of the major you indicated on you application forms. After you got in, you have to then file an application with the department to get into the major. Thus, if you didn't finish all your pre req. you could then do so in your first semester. For econ majors like myself, I have to finish takeing an additional econ and stats class (which is only offered in UCB). Don't worry! Econ is an impacted major, but i was told that a 3.0 GPA in your major req. classes will be good enough(with the two courses completed at UCB as well) but that's only after you got accepted into UCB. Good luck, people!

Plus, UCB now requires students to complete an American Culture class to graduate. If your CC offers it, I'd take it.. (Easier) but make sure UCB approves it!!

coffee, what was your GPA when you got accepted into UCB?
thanks for the info

OK, I'm finally done with all those berkeley supplemental forms/applications. Now I'll just sit back and wait for my rejection from them. :(

Hopefully, TAP will be enough to save me for LA.

hw323, what's your stats?

Applied to UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD
GPA: 3.39
Major: History
Major prep: done for LA, 3/4 for CAL but will be 4/4 after this semester
TAP
IGETC done by spring
ECs: None except for work
Essays: Crap

You should be fine for LA. UCB is only a little bit of a reach. You should definitely get into UCSD and UCD
Work is a really good E.C. don’t sell your self short.

Hey HW, I can relate. My essays weren't great and I am TAP certified too! 3.46 GPA and applied to LA and UCB.

I have been procrastinating on the UCB updates. I should do it right now. Ugh. I need to finish it so they know what the basis for my rejection will be.

IF UCSB doesn't have additional forms to complete, then what is this website that allows me to update my major prep? And why did UCSB send me a link to it??

https://www.admissions.ucsb.edu/applicant/index.asp?context=applicant_transfer

"Please complete this form accurately, as it will be used to evaluate your preparation for your intended major at UC Santa Barbara. This website will 'timeout' after 30 minutes. Be sure to submit your information within this time frame. If you require additional time, you may submit information multiple times. This form must be completed and submitted online by 02/15/2007."

^That is not particular to the UCBS application; you have to do that no matter where you are applying.

Really? Then why is it at a ".ucsb" web address with UCSB logos all over the page? Not every campus sent me to a site like that. Only UCSB and UCB sent me to sites to update my major prep.

I did do the general UC application update that includes earned fall 2006 grades and planned spring 2007 course work.

Ur *****s messed up then smith, because mine doesn't talk about an update or anything. The only "update" i get on that link is the one that re-directs me to the whole UC update...

Well I've been busy and I am updating my applications late. I'm having problems with the Berkeley supplemental application right now. For step 1 (grade summary), my form keeps getting rejected, and for step 4 (Work in progress), it says that I must update my application @ Pathways first before being able to access it. This I already did.

So I guess my question is: did anyone else get the rejection message for part 1? and if so, how did you correct it? Also, when is the pathways application updated? I am assuming that this may be the problem with my application, since I just updated it minutes prior to filling up the Berkeley supplement, and has not yet registered to their system.

Any help is appreciated, and thanks in advance.

Angljc1:
Thanks for giving me a bit of hope.

Lax:
It could be because of his major or something, because my friend who's majoring in BusEcon also have to go on the UCSB site to fill in his major prep, similar to what we have to do on the normal UC Update site but not as much work.

Smith:
Yeah, I totally typed my essays a few hours before the 11th hour, finishing my last one at like 11:57 or so, haha. My major is no where as competitive to LA Bus Econ or CAL Econ, so good luck to you, and hopefully we will be hearing the good news come late April/early May. You go to CCSF?

pellman, i believe it says right there on berkeley's update page that the WIP form only gets updated twice/week from the uc app update website. dont worry, it'll show up soon :) as for the first part, i think theres a number listed there to call if you're having problems. good luck!

Do you guys they put heavy emphasis on essay formatting?
I noticed that when I copy>pasted my essay into the box it looked fine, but after sending and printing the confirmation, i realized that many of the last letters of words got shifted to the next line.

Ex: (not my essay, just generic sentences)
I went to the park to play with Mar
y. We had a fun time and play on th
e swings.

:\ Should I notify them, or would they consider that glitch?

Jesus...they wont care?? You think they are gonna look at your app and say "well, despite his stellar grades and overall good abilities I think we're gonna have to say no guys.... I don't think any of us could go to sleep knowing we let someone into (UC Here) who lets sentences run onto the next line...nope, not us"

LAX, why do you have to be so sarcastic?? Relax, it was just a simple question...

Darkin,
I'm sure it will be fine, I copied from my Mac & had a couple of run-off lines as well. I'm not worried about it though.

i hate stupid questions, that's y
