University of Chicago like Hogwarts?

Agreed with neltharion. I never really understood the hype about UChicago being similar to Hogwarts. Personally, I’ve never thought that Hutchinson Commons was particularly pretty (it’s a cafeteria, for Christ sake), and I think the university could do a much better job of presenting Harper (north reading room duct-taped couches, anyone?). We have a lot of cool sites around campus, but I’ve just never thought they were appropriately managed. I think Zimmer’s doing a better job with this, though. As much as I’ve heard people complain about the new pedestrian-friendly campus renovation, I think it’s a great idea to beautify the campus. There’s nothing better suited to destroying the gothic feel of the campus by having cars going straight through the quadrangles. I don’t think you’ll be seeing that at Cambridge or Oxford.

I agree about Harper and was glad to hear it is undergoing a renovation.

Yes! I’m not the only other person who sees “atmospheres” as having colors! Neltharion, have you heard of synesthesia?
I know this is a really old post, but I couldn’t help replying to it.

I recently visited U of C and I saw a student group selling t-shirts that said “The University of Chicago… because I got waitlisted at Hogwarts.”
