It depends on what your other options are. If you are deciding between Princeton and a gap year at Chicago then go to Princeton. If it’s between at state school and a gap year at Chicago then go to Chicago.

If I may make a recommendation, take the gap year and go intern for your congressman/a senator for a semester (if possible). Since you’re interested in poli sci, you’ll already be ahead of everyone else for internships for the summer after freshman year (and then you can expand the gap).
You make it seem like a gap year is a bad thing!
Yeah I called the office of admissions and apparently they are wrapping up so it is basically too late now to get off of the waiting list 
@kaarboer I’d rather start college next year personally unless you have a solid plan laid out for what you want to do during your gap year.

Wait do u know exactly what the letter said??? Also are they starting to send out rejections now?
I just got off the phone with the admissions office and they said that they expect to take many more students off the waitlist in the next two weeks and that everyone should know their final decision at that point except for a select few on the extended waitlist who will find out at the beginning of June. I then asked them if they wanted me kidney or first born child and they said to upload them to my UChicago account.
