UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO WAITLIST FOR CLASS OF 2019

No problem. I actually attended the admitted student sleepover and spoke with an admissions officer who told me the number. I would think the majority of the wait list offers will occur beginning after next weekend. That will be the end of the admitted student sleepovers and more students will then commit to UChicago or another school. Good luck.

MY stats are average for the school so I hope that I have a chance!!

Sent in the LOCI today. 450 sounds unrealistic. I’d be grateful if they had spots for at least 100-200 more students. Do you think it would help if I send in an additional rec letter from a teacher?

On their website it said that no additional recs were needed or recommended, so I would not. Good luck to everyone! People on the wait list, What were your basic stats (test scores and gpa)? I have 33 superscored ACT and 4.39 (3.86 UW) gpa. Are these hopeful numbers??

Better than mine!
I got a response from my regional counselor regarding my LOCI! She’s so sweet!

What region? @alchemist7010

I’m still waiting to hear back from mine and it’s been over a week

I thought they have over 3000 on the waiting list?
Edit: called my regional officer (since she never replies to my emails till like a month later) and yes they are going to accept people of the waitlist (she sounded pretty definite, but was avoiding using absolute words)
She also said most offers will still be made after May 1 as only then will they be able to accurately assess the class size and what they need.
So then I asked why I got off. (Literally still in shock, lol, I didn’t even send them anything yet, which also makes me mad because I did have something ready) and she said the very very few students that they already wanted when they reviewed regular applicants but literally did not have space for were offered spots from the waiting list. (Come to think of it I did turn in my application way after the deadline so maybe that’s why?)
So I guess what I said before about my original application is true.
But then I’m also confused, would that “imply” the list is sort of ranked?

Europe… i’m international

I’m an international student from Belgium. Are you from the states? @Goldfish76

@Lanie49 Thank you for giving us that information!
If what you said is true, I don’t think it’s likely that I will get off the wait list. My stats are nowhere near superb, especially my SAT score. My GPA is pretty good, I’ll most likely graduate as valedictorian. But I don’t really have anything else. Plus, I’m an Asian student living in Europe and in need of FA, which lowers the chance even more.
I’m just hoping for a miracle.

Yes, I’m a domestic applicant @alchemist7010

Has anyone heard from the Florida (Orlando) regional admissions counselor? I emailed him a few days ago, just wondering if he seems nice or not since I haven’t heard back yet

Did anyone hear back today??

I don’t think any of you should be discouraged. My standardized testing was not very good and I didn’t even send in subject tests, yet I still got off the waitlist. Of course I had a few hooks but my extracurriculars were no where as good as some people nor did I have any awards. Anyone on the waitlist has a chance and I wish you all the best of luck!

Thanks @Paraxat I’m hoping for the best  Ty to everyone for the updates and info

@alchemist7010 is it katie quille haha

Has anyone who has been accepted from the wait list been given any money?

Does anyone know how many students were taken off of the waitlist last year?

People are getting off the waitlist?! Wow!!

Very few so far. Apparently most offers will be made in May.
