@Cazoon probably not. My regional counselor got back to me the next day (or was it two days later?)
I think it is just my guy. My guidance counselor even called him and left a message and still no answer. Maybe he is new and overwhelmed.
I was also waitlisted and, whilst waiting for the decision, have accepted a place in UCB. Between UChicago and UCB, what would be a better college for a major in Economics?
@Cazoon I wrote my regional admissions couselor like a month ago and never got a response. I also wrote a few days ago and still haven’t gotten anything it probably just depends on who your admissions counselor is. I don’t think it reflects the school as a whole, they are probably super busy.
Is it really true that there is no FA available anymore for international waitlisted students? This is freaking me out!
@alchemist7010 It’s freaking me out too.
Has anyone else gotten off recently?
^And if you were, how were you contacted? Only through phone first, or did anyone get contacted through your Chicago account or email first?
UChicago accepted a student at our school yesterday. She wrote her admission counselor and the same time was admitted. Oddly, she was told the reason she wasn’t originally offered admission was that she didn’t attend her interview and they assumed she wasn’t keen to attend the school!
As an accepted waitlisted student I was given financial aid (as a US resident) a few days ago so that isn’t really much of a worry about that. The package was extremely generous but not as much as other loan free need based aid I had gotten elsewhere and with my situation every difference matters. I’m not sure if I could make my aid work and will actually end up attending, but good luck to the rest of you whether at UChicago or elsewhere!
@Paraxat that is good to know about the financial aid…were you contacted via phone, and had you written your admissions counselor?
I got off the waitlist and what the regional admissions officer did for me was email me to ask when I’d be available to talk on the phone. And then on the phone the counselor asked how interested I was in Chicago (very) and she told me that there was spot for me. I did email the regional admissions officer expressing interest (short paragraph).
I emailed my regional counselor a letter of continued interest a few weeks along, and he still hasn’t replied. I’ve also uploaded it to my uchicago account though, so should I do anything else?
@Kahifi when did you hear back? Recently or some time ago? (kindasortareallysuperfreakedoutimnothearinganythingback)
Do students that don’t get pulled off the waitlist ever get notified, or is the lack of a response the response? Is there a threshold date by which we should hear, and those who haven’t heard by that point should fully move on?
most of the students pulled off the waitlist will be likely after May 1 when colleges have heard back from all the students. most colleges get back around may 13 thru 20th. some kids here as back late as june or july.
Are INTERNATIONAL wait-listed students still eligible for financial aid?
Just wanted to drop by and say I Unaccepted my wait list offer and will be going elsewhere.
Good luck guys.
Why?? Didn’t you get accepted off the waiting list? @Lanie49
@tesfayeB read lanie’s comment again. She was accepted of the waitlist but she turned down her offer
