My son applied to University of Cincinnati on 10/20/16 and it was completed (ACT Scores from testing center) on 11/7/16. How long do you think it’ll take to hear back? What are his chances…he has a 3.1 GPA and a 23 ACT score and is interested in business/PR?
It’s wonderful to learn of your son’s interest in the University of Cincinnati!
Because we admit directly to major, the notification timeline will vary depending on which major your son applied to. Additional information can be found at admissions.uc.edu/highschool/decisionprocess, or you can contact the Office of Admissions (513-556-1100).
Best wishes!
Can you tell me if academic acceptance will come first for a musical theatre applicant who will audition in February? I’ve gotten conflicting information from the school. Thank you!
@CincyAdmissions I received my acceptance for Physics program in College of Art and Science on 22nd December, 2016 (ref no:- 403523159). However, I have not received my scholarship decision as of yet. I emailed Mr. Charlie Schwartz and asked if I’ve not been offered any scholarship at all, but he said that a scholarship decision has been made for me and it will be sent following the new year. however, I’ve not yet received any decisions whatsoever. what should I do?
@ANepaliOptimist I was told (via a letter) to wait until the end of January.
@mundanewarrior Hope you get in with generous scholarship. However, I don’t think I will be able to afford Cincinnati at all because I ain’t getting any full scholarships, and i need at least full tuition, room & board to be abe to attend. when did you receive the letter? you’re from which country? What did the letter say precisely?
@ANepaliOptimist
I’m in a similar situation. I read that Cincinnati is not so generous with their scholarships; their reasoning is that the STEM students get co-op in lieu of scholarships.
I’m from India and I got the letter last week. It said I have qualified for the scholarship and I will be notified by the end of January (via email). I don’t expect more than $4000, given Cincinnati’s history. Not even close to sufficient.
Speaking of scholarships, I still haven’t heard back. Any idea on how long after acceptance UC waits til sending those out? I got accepted January 20. and a lot of scholarship essays for UC are due at the end of the month.
My daughter’s admissions counselor said it would be late Feb. at the earliest for the Cincinnatus, and the deadline to be eligible for those was Dec. 1. Not sure if other scholarships have earlier notification dates, but last year it was mid to late March for Cincinnatus.
@ANepaliOptimist @mundanewarrior
Did you get a decision letter, guys? If so, how big of an award did you receive?
@summr99T I got 3K/year Global scholarship, plus 12k/year McMicken College of Arts & Sciences International Outreach scholarship. Unfortunately, I still can not afford UCincinnati.
@ANepaliOptimist I got exactly the same offer. I’m thinking of probably trying to negotiate that.
Did you get accepted into the Honors Program?
@ANepaliOptimist What are your stats, btw? If you don’t mind telling, of course.
@summr99T Nope, not into honors program. Do we have to apply separately? if we do have to, I didn’t. I have 3.92 unweighted GPA and 31,ACT.
@ANepaliOptimist nope, no separate application needed.
That’s so weird, your stats are pretty good, $15k total seems like a pretty underwhelming offer, doesn’t it?
I have not received a decision letter yet. They said it was mailed 2-3 weeks back. Should I ask them for a soft copy?
I have 1460 on the new SAT. 85-95% in high school. Class rank 1. I need significant aid to attend.
@mundanewarrior did you apply EA by Dec 1 or what? you should receive the scholarship letters by email by now. I mean it has already been weeks I received mine by email and mail.
@summr99T exactly. I was hoping to be considered for the Cincinnatus scholarship at the least which would provide me with full tuition, room and board. Anyway, I have no choice but decline the offer so wouldn’t be attending the school. My regards to those who are going to Cincinnati.
I received an email in January, saying I’m one of their “top scholarship candidates” and that I should receive a scholarship letter by February first week.
I’ll email them. It’s Monday.
So they sent me a soft copy after I emailed them.
I got a non-negotiable $18k/year UC Global scholarship. That’s a little more than I expected, but less than what I need.
I’ll be taking APs which will allow me to skip a year. So, my total cost will be:
$44k = tuition (26k * 3) + room/board/misc (15k * 4) - scholarship (18k * 3) - co-op earnings (40k)
That’s almost the same as at UA where I have full tuition scholarship.
^Except at UA your co-op earnings would be on top, not deducted yet. (You CAN co-op through engineering at UA).
