University of Delaware Class of 2022

@mellyp2000 I waited 12 weeks to hear from UDel (accepted), I’ve heard that the more competitive majors take longer, decisions are also released every friday so be on the lookout, good luck!!

@mellyp2000 my D got an email on 10/25 with a thanks for applying and link to portal. NEVER got another email saying it was complete and ready for review. I honestly think it somehow slipped through the cracks. 2 emails to admissions went unanswered and a phone call at week 12 the woman from admissions said “huh, it has been a long time, but we have everything we need” with zero explanation. At 14 weeks she emailed specific admission counselor to our area and said she was concerned that she had never got the “complete and under review” email. His response was that if she subtracted the week of thanksgiving that they are closed, and 2 weeks for winter break, that should put her right in the 8-12 week window! I’m not sure what that means, or when she is expected to hear back. Meanwhile I have told her to move on, and she is already attending other accepted student tours. If you look at last year’s thread, this is normal for them.

@jlg0143 So sorry to hear this. I have seen that this has happened quite a bit in the past. What is your D’s major? If it is a competitive major this may be why.

Would anybody consider Political Science to be a competitive major for UDel? This is my intended major and I’m wondering if this may be why it is taking so long to hear back.

@mellyp2000 she is undeclared. Today marks exactly 15 weeks from her first and only email from them. Fortunately she has other great choices but it went from her #1 choice to bottom of the list.

@jlg0143 In the same boat. Same major. I talked with the admissions counselor today and she shrugged it off and said “You should give it until the March 15th date” So frustrating!

Does anyone know when Distinguied Honors comes and if I have a chance at getting it with a 34 ACT? Thanks so much

My daughter got the confetti on the portal this evening after receiving the request for mid year grades Jan. 11. She is over the moon as Delaware was her top choice. She was accepted in to the Marine Science Program.

@momsac did your daughter actually submit the mid year grades? My son was asked for the same but we are in NY and mid year grades are not finalized yet.

Yes, her grades were finalized and sent on Friday 2/2. I logged on this evening just to see if the grades had been received and saw confetti! Did not expect it so quickly.

@Momsac This is great news! They asked me for mid-year grades too. My school released them last Friday. Have you been checking the portal regularly? When do you think it was posted?

I have been checking every day. I checked this morning and there was nothing and then checked again at around 6:00 when I saw the confetti.

Thank you and congratulations!

My son was also asked to send in mid -year grades and they are being released this Friday. Staying positive. So happy to hear someone recieved there acceptance after there mid-yr grades were sent. Congrats!

My daughter just got her merit aide package. We are out of state. $48,000 US Presidential Scholarship. $6000 a semester for four years. School of arts and sciences. Visual art major with a portfolio. GPA 3.728 ACT 30.

@JerseyMom2022 How long after you received online acceptance, did it take to receive merit package in mail?

@JerseyMom2022 I forgot to ask, did the major disappear before the acceptance?

Sending in my mid year grades today after speaking with the admissions office, as well as my admissions counselor. They both recommended I do so, in case they need them later on. Hopefully this speeds along the process!

@abbyrubycookie she applied the last week in November. She was accepted January 26. She got her scholarship letter Feb 7. Her major disappeared on Thursday the 25th of January and she was accepted the evening of Friday Jan. 26.

Accepted on Jan 5 and still nothing about merit money… this happen to anyone else?? It said 2-4 weeks and its been 5 weeks. So worried. This is my top school and I really need to the money to be able to attend!!
