@julmarie3 it is a very small, plain looking letter envelope and easily overlooked. Nothing like the big acceptance envelope that came a few days after your portal updated. I would email or call them.
@julmarie3 Unfortunately my daughter didn’t get her merit package for over two months after acceptance. I think some kids get their’s a few weeks later but in other cases it can take longer. If you go on to Udel’s website they have a net price calculator that also gives you an estimate of merit. It’s quite accurate and my daughter received the amount it stated when I plugged in her stats. I would have your daughter reach out to her admissions counselor via a friendly email expressing her happiness at getting accepted and gently asking about when she might be hearing about her financial merit award. That seemed to spur them on, and my daughter’s arrived two weeks after her contact with her counselor. As stated by JerseyMom2022 the letter is very unassuming, simple business envelope from the University. Good luck!
@Momsac Did your daughter’s major disappear before the acceptance?
@abbyrubycookie for what it’s worth, everyone I know had their Major disappear at least a day before receiving their admissions decision.
It’s been 12 weeks since we got the confetti and no merit package yet. Hoping they send one soon. Have reached out to the admissions counselor in a nice positive email. Other colleges keep sending merit so I’m hoping it’s not too much longer.
I submitted my app in early December. Heard that I got in on December 21st and on that same day they also told me I got into honors. Found out about a month later that I got a merit scholarship for $11,400 a year. It seems like they don’t have a set formula for when you will find stuff out so try not to worry to much! It’s easy for me to say that now but trust me within that month I was anxiously checking my mailbox every day for my merit letter!
Student type says Freshmen. But no confetti? What does this mean?
@Thewaiting4ever it means you will get confetti this evening after 8 PM. They wouldn’t call you a UD freshman and then reject you. Same thing happened to my daughter.
Student type always says Freshman unless you are applying as a transfer. I think it’s when the major disappears is when you get an acceptance, according to what I’ve read here.
@Thewaiting4ever , Yes, it always says Freshman but the major disappearing is a great sign! Keep us posted.
No. My daughter’s portal changed from ‘applicant’ to ‘freshman’ the day before she got admitted
@JerseyMom2022 , Wow! good to know. Just when I have the “code” to acceptance figured out. LOL
Now when I log in it says Decision Day
Good news and bad news from UDel… Good news is they received my mid year grades. Bad news is my application is still in “the first reading” (I submitted my application 10.5 weeks ago, and it became complete 9.5 weeks ago). Additionally, I had to request to change my second choice major from Applied Voice to Spanish/Political Science because I never auditioned for the music department as Applied Voice was my second major. Incredibly disappointed to hear all of this.
@Thewaiting4ever My sons says freshman and he’s still under review. We are waiting for the mid year grades to be posted.
@Mcjc626 Is your sons major still listed?
@mellyp2000 yes it is
Someone just mentioned student type says freshman but major is still there, does this mean you will be admitted because some people said their student type originally said applicant…?
@ggitllot8 that was me that said it…Does everyone else that is waiting have applicant?
Can’t remember whether mine originally said applicant or has always said freshman
