University of Delaware - optional essays + honors college consideration?

Hello! I am new to college confidential but I thought it would be a good website for asking questions to fellow seniors!
Anyways, I am applying to the University of Delaware as OOS and hope to apply to the Honors College as well. On the common app, there are a total of 4 prompts that apply to my situation (plus 2 required ones for the honors college - which I will definitely write).

Basically, I am wondering if I can apply to the honors college but not write the optional supplements (aside from the required honors college ones), or only write one or two of the optional supplements. I don’t know if UD’s supplements are a sort of a pick-and-choose type of situation where you don’t have to write all of them, but I thought I should ask as the deadline is approaching. There is one supplement about being denied an opportunity that if I were to write it, quite truthfully, I fear it might come across as phony or insincere. If I didn’t write the supplements and only wrote the honors college essays, would that completely ruin my chances of honors/other scholarships?

I saw another post by a CCer that didn’t write the supplements and still got into the honors college WITH merit aid and everything: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/1731335/optional-writing-supplements/

Just a few brief stats:

  • 32 ACT composite with 33 superscore
  • 103.558 weighted GPA
  • great leadership, interest in the arts, overall strong course load and grades

Write all the supplementals. My son got into U Del last year and for the section about being denied an opportunity he wrote about something that happened to him as a youth in scouts. It was very authentic. It doesn’t have to be something large but just something that didn’t go your way or was unfair.

Ok, thanks! Sounds good. Is he at UDel right now?
