University of Delaware vs University of Md - College Park

My S is deciding between College Park and UD with a major in Business/Accounting. Any comments he should consider about one program or the other?

They are fairly comparable. You won't go wrong either way. I'd go with the one he likes the best and will leave him with the least debt.

he's not alone, im trying to decide between the same two

My observation is that while they're both large public institutions of reasonable reputations, UDel is much more focused on quality of education for undergrads. Just look at the mix of students and how the $$$ is spent.

Conversely, if spectator basketball is a major factor, then it's TerpTown for sure.

In my opinion I think it just comes down to which school you prefer. My son narrowed his list down to Maryland and Delaware. We visited them both last year. On Friday we visited Maryland for an admitted students day. We were supposed to do same thing at Delaware on Saturday. No need though, he committed to Maryland on Friday. We are instate for Maryland but Delawares Fa package made the cost about the same as Maryland. He just really loved the campus. Your S will get a fine education from both schools. It may just come down to a preference he has for one school more than the other

How do these schools compare to schools like W and Mary; Emory for business ?

You might find some help here, though I always urge caution with any rankings - pay close attention to the criteria.

I was the opposite of finisher1ab... I am instate at MD and visited both UD and UMD and there was no question that I wasn't going to go to UMD. I was completely unimpressed with the campus, surrounding area, and the department(engineering). I picked UD and have been very pleased. I feel like UD has been very personalized and teaching is the number one priority. If you're a huge sports nut... UMD might win, though. UD has football but people don't really get too into basketball.
