University of denver Living and Learning Community

Note: this accidentally got posted into the wrong place by accident!!

Hi! So I got into DU’s International living and learning community and I’m not sure if I should join or not!

Cons
My concern is that I won’t get to know anyone else other than those on that specific floor if I do it.
I’m also concerned that it will be mostly international students doing it and I’ll be the only American (which would not really be bad, I would just feel isolated!)
I’m also concerned it’s too much of a time/effort commitment that might be difficult to handle when I’m trying to focus on academics and settling into college!
I need a single dorm for medical reasons-not sure if this is even possible in this program because space on the floor is limited and I don’t want to take someone else’s spot.

Pros
-guaranteed room in the Towers, which is my first choice because of the kitchen!
-get to learn about different cultures, which is interesting!

Not speaking from Denver’s, but my son joined a LLC at his college (George Mason) and he said it was one of the unexpected highlights of his freshman year. The floor was super tight (he still made friends off of the floor) and did a lot together. He was not expecting it to be as fabulous as it was. Sounds like you need to ask the question about the required single (did you let them know when you applied to the LLC?). Good luck!

@SailingMomof2 that is very helpful! Thank you!!
