University of Florida 2014/2015 Transfers

I saw the freshmen facebook page and decided to make one for us transfer students as well. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1434935830063666/

hi guys I am a FTIC at USF St Pete and hope to transfer to UF in Fall 2014 but it looks like UF is not accepting freshman/sophomore transfer applicants? do you guys know if this is true? I have heard it both ways that they will for Fall 2014? any info or advice is much appreciated thanks!!

I applied September 14th for Fall 2014 and my transcripts got there the 27th. My status has been “referred to my college” since October 15th-ish. I’m getting nervous that I won’t be accepted.

I have a 3.92 GPA at my community college with 66 credits going into this semester and ill have my last class for my AA in the spring. In high school, my GPA was a 3.85 weighted and I had a D in AP Biology, which I feel is dampening my chances even though I’ve taken Biology 1&2 in college and have gotten As both semesters.

Is anyone else in this boat?

I got in with a 3.93 college GPA and a garbage high school GPA, I don’t think it matters. I’m a transfer, finish my AA in spring.

You’re freaking out too soon Davoli! Last fall I applied in early January and didn’t get a decision til June/July. It’s going to sit in “your application has been sent to your college for a final decision” for quite a while.

Same here, referred to college for a final decision two weeks ago. Applying for fall 2014.

This wait is killing me. I feel like I have so much to do before going away, but I can’t do anything until I find out. Does anyone know how competitive the chemistry bachelors program is? I know that biology and psychology are the most competitive for the CLAS, but I was wondering how many other people are crazy enough to love chemistry as much as I do to go for their bachelors and higher in it.

I know how you feel! I got my actual acceptance in early July and didn’t get to go to preview until the day before classes started. I was sweating and I wasn’t even moving to Gainesville, so I really didn’t have much to do. Then I screwed it up failing the last class I needed for my AA and had to apply again for spring. I was rejected and it’s been sent back through, but I’m freaking out waiting for it to change to accepted. I have every confidence that it will, but I’m still nervous!

Agmama, I hope you don’t mind me asking, but what was your GPA when you got accepted the first time and how many credits did you have?

The reason I ask about credits is because I’m worried that they might see that I have so many credits. My college doesn’t offer many of the lower level chemistry and physics classes so to keep my bright futures I have to take a bunch of BS classes.

I’m a special case. My major required a 2.5 overall gpa. I attempted college the first time back in 1999 and did horribly. I started again in 2011 with a .44 gpa without grade forgiveness and a .66 with grade forgiveness. So, my overall gpa is only a 2.39, I think. It’s actually a 3.15 since I’ve returned to school. Because of this I was rejected the first time I applied. I went to talk to someone about trying to get the pre-reqs for a major that only required a 2.0 and applying again for spring (I applied for fall the first time). While I was there she saw that my new gpa was much higher and sent me to get a support letter from a member of the department. Then my app was sent back through and I was accepted. Then I screwed it up by not getting my AA (without it, and the grade forgiveness it includes my gpa was just under the 2.0 minimum required by UF). So I had to retake the class and do it all over again for spring. Same thing happened this time and she resubmitted my application. She said it will be accepted, but I’ve been waiting almost 3 weeks now and my status still says it’s been sent to my college (changed from rejected). She did tell me to email her when I get my final grade for the class, so they may be waiting to see if I pass it this time.

Anyway…the short answer to your question is that I had a 2.39 overall gpa and they accepted 60 hours towards my degree (that will be 66 when all my credits are counted. I believe I actually earned about 74. I’ve attempted 112 I think.

I really don’t think the number of credits is so important. They’re concerned with your gpa and your gpa on your pre-professional classes mostly. Unless you have some crazy amount like 120 or something, I don’t think it’s that big a deal.

Ahh I see, I have 66 credits now and will graduate in the Spring with 90 credits

I saw this blurb on the website about non-Florida students that said “Upper division transfer students (students applying with 60 or more hours earned) from a non-Florida state/community college are also considered on a space availability basis. (Students with greater than 90 hours earned are generally not considered for admission since they have senior status at their current institution.)”

So I didn’t know if they did anything like that for Florida students, but I would think that they would’ve rejected me since it says “not considered for admission.” Mine still says “referred to your college for a final decision”

I applied the same time as I did to UCF, and I still haven’t been referred to my college! I have already been accepted to UCF for Fall 2014. UCF was my first choice so I couldn’t be happier! Good luck to everyone!

Okay mine says “The Application Status function is not available. Please check back later.” Is this a sign that I’m being evaluated or am I just imagining this?

False alarm. -_____-

Just got accepted for fall 2014. I was so excited i posted this under spring 2014 thread :p

Congrats! Just curious, when did you apply?

Thanks.I applied in November around the 10th.

Congrats!! Do you have your AA already / will you have it by the end of Spring?

I will have my AA by the end of spring and thanks.
