directly from VT’s website, “Letters of recommendation are not required or requested. Even if submitted, they will not be considered in the review of your application.”.
Uf also doesn’t consider recommendation letters. Not sure where you’re getting that from.

I’m in state for both schools. VA residency and Florida because of Florida prepaid.

It’s best to assume rejection so you’re not sad if rejected, and elated if accepted.

if youre allowed to say, what are some of the most common reasons for rejection you see?

It’s really not that simple. There is never one reason why any student is admitted or denied. Since it is a selective admission process and we look at so many different things. Honestly we always want to admit more students than we have room.

Do you know approximately the number of applications UF received by the Nov 7 deadline? I know it has increased significantly in recent years, wondering if it has leveled out.

Is it possible to share the acceptance rate for last year or this year for in state residents (excluding PACE)? Thank you. And thank you for taking the time to share all this information with us!

60k applications, 55k were complete, 15k weren’t rejected and theyre aiming for a class size of ~6600 apparently, according to a faculty meeting last thursday. you can find it on uf’s mediasite website, search “2/16/2023 Faculty Senate Meeting” on google in quotes and it should come up lol (i cant post links sry)

Thank you!

Is that in state or total?

total i believe

I found it. It starts at about 9 minutes and fifty seconds if anyone else is looking for it. It sounds like that 27% is total, so hopefully in state is even higher! I think they said approximately a third of that number will be summer admit. They gave numbers for pace and ia too, but I wasn’t clear whether those numbers were part of the total or over and above. I know it is what it is at this point, but as long as we’re all obsessing over the odds, better to do it with credible information! :joy:

accepted or waitlisted is what im guessing, they said that 15k “received offers”

I don’t think UF does deferrals or waitlists, but I’m not for sure on that. I think they accepted just over 15k last year.

I’m just a hopeful parent, so I really have no idea, and didn’t see the answer online, but I would imagine most if not all kids who are offered admission and honors, are offered admission for the fall term. There may be kids who apply for summer admission, but my understanding is the majority apply for the fall term but because of housing and class scheduling, etc., they can’t take everyone in the fall. So they offer fall admission to the first 10k or so kids, then they offer summer admission to the next 5k or so. Then after that, another 600ish kids get a PACE offer. Other than no wanting to let my kid go any earlier than I have to, there is very little downside to a summer start, and it has several advantages. PACE is a bit of a different story. Even if they are living on campus, taking all your freshman classes online is not ideal for a lot of kids. But if UF is the dream school, it’s definitely an option if they get that offer.

Unless things changed in the last year or 2, there are no deferrals or waitlists this round.

Most will be offered fall but they do offer some summer start- with PACE you do not apply for it- it is just offered. There are no deferrals or waitlists at all. Just admit or deny.
