Hi, everyone! I just had a few questions about preview. Where do you stay for UF preview??? I have no clue whatsoever. Also, if you picked an earlier date for preview, does that mean you get to pick your classes before people who are attending preview at a later date (regardless of honors students)? I just want to be prepared. Thank you!
I believe they are housing students in Broward Hall. As for the classes, they set aside a certain number of spots in each class for each preview session so that every student will have an equal opportunity for a spot at each preview session, regardless if it is the first or the last.
@beachgirl12345 thank you.
Actually @beachgirl12345 & @volleyball2016 I spoke with the Preview coordinators, and the moment you meet with your advisors, the hold is lifted, meaning the earlier you go the better chance you get at good professors, but as far as holding spots for equal opportunity I’m gonna have to shoot that one down lol. I’m going MAY 15.
Coming in as a transfer the Advisors will work with you to have a course plan that will allow you to graduate on time. You may not get your ideal line up. But it will still work out. I think the earlier you get to preview the better.
Freshman preview is different from transfer preview. For freshman, they do set aside a certain number of spots in each class for each preview session. These are the typical freshman classes, that have thousands of students all taking the same dozen or so classes (math, English, “what’s the good life”…etc.).
It’s far easier for a transfer students to get spots in critical classes. Most majors have more than enough open seats in “major required” classes. In those majors that are a bit over enrolled, the college adviser will make sure you get into any classes you need to stay on schedule for graduation.
@Kal-El96 thank you. I am going May 15 too. I thought it’s better to go earlier.
@OrlandoGator I am a freshman with about 40 credits from high school AP and IB courses so I will most likely be signing up for more sophomore courses, besides the couple required freshmen courses, so I’m not sure if that opens up my options and gives me a better chance of getting good professors and classes or not. Thank you for the information. I am attending preview fairly early.
Thank you @Gator88NE I am going to have quite a bit of credits and I have already been told that I will be able to get out of a lot of the freshman courses, and also a few credits of the foreign language requirement as I took 6 years of IB Spanish. Do you think that’ll make it easier for me to sign up for classes since I’m signing up for sophomore courses? Also, do I sign up for my Summer and Fall (and maybe Spring) courses at May Preview?
@volleyball2016 I don’t expect you’ll have any problems signing up for classes. You may be signing up for summer and Fall…but not spring.
@Gator88NE thank you for the information! I appreciate it!
