@ashxxch I assume it is generally the same for the public state colleges in Florida. I briefly looked at Valencia and Santa Fe’s AA reqs and they were very similar to my (SPC) requirements.
I recommend emailing someone and providing your unofficial transcript. I have been given enough generic responses, but after 3 emails of me restating a question the will (sometimes) provide an answer.
My Bio 2 course was only 1/4 ecology, then 1/2 plants and animals and 1/4 evolution. I don’t know how it varies across other college and professors.
Valencia College
Current GPA: 3.90
Pre-prof GPA: 3.90

Do you guys think I have a chance to get in UF? I have been waiting for their decision. I’m so worried now.
“IT APPEARS YOUR ECONOMICS MAJOR WILL BE COMPLETED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF
POSSIBLY ONE ECO ELECTIVE AT FSU AFTER YOUR FALL 2015 CLASSES. WE WOULD
THEREFORE RECOMMEND THAT YOU COMPLETE YOUR ECO MAJOR AT FSU.”
I’m a sophomore at FSU and I am not close at all to “completing” my major. Do they mean I am missing one elective and that I should reapply next term after completing it? I tried calling them last week and today and each time I was transferred to voicemail and they did not email me back. I just emailed CLASTransfer@advising.ufl.edu, is there any other email I should try?
@sylviabahbush I think it’s saying that, after this current fall 2015 semester ends, you will still need to take one more econ elective and then you’ll be set. What is your degree? If you are getting something like an associates at FSU and transferring in order to finish your bachelors at UF, then that would explain why they are telling you to complete your major (associates) at FSU, because you only have a few classes left to go. Then, you could transfer to UF with your associates finished, and those credits would go to a bachelors. I know that, in order to graduate with a degree from a college, usually 25% of your classes have to be taken at the place you want your degree from, so they might not accept someone with a few classes left.
Does anyone know how they take the last semester into account? I had pretty bad first two semesters averaging 3.18. I think I am going to get around 3.7 for this semester so my gpa will be around 3.34, which is really bad. I know I am going to do a lot better next semester since I will be more focused. I had valid reasons for doing bad in my first year. Do you think I still have a chance? And how will they take my last semester into account?
@IFeedCats I had a question about the upwards trend in your grades that you were talking about. So I sort of have an upward trend going. I got a 3.3 my first semester and a 3.06 my second semester (Low grades both due to family and personal emergencies). I am about to finish my third semester and I will probably have a 3.7 from what I know, leaving me with an average of 3.34 (this is the gpa I will be putting on my application and its very low). I will be staying at Hofstra University for the next semester as well but i know my application won’t show my last semester since it will be in progress so I just needed advice as to what I could do to make my chances of getting in stronger because my whole career depends on this and it’s my dream school.
Do you think I have a chance at all at this point? I am depending on my grades for the next semester and they aren’t even going to show on my application or until months later.
Santa Fe College
Overall GPA: 3.01
Pre-prof: 3.77
Finance (Warrington College of Business)
How do my chances look? I`ve been referred to the college for final decision.
@sheel95 I am really curious to what your final decision will be. There have been two people here rejected with better stats. But do not let that deter you by any means. You JUST made it with your cumulative GPA. Really hard to chance really.
@ashxxch I was similar, except my low GPA was lower and my high GPAs were higher for an overall higher GPA. I started off with a 3.3 then a 2.5 (and two W courses), then I dropped out for a semester, then I came back with a 3.4 and then I was a 4.0 for two regular semesters and one summer semester. I had a different reason for my underachieving and then turn around, but when I wrote about it I didn’t try to fixate too much on the reasons and more how I overcame them and performed better. “Driven by passion” and that stuff.
I think you’d have a chance if you improved with this semester and explained your previous semesters. And it never hurts to try!
Hi Everyone,
I have been following this page for awhile now and I told myself I would post if I ever got accepted.
Transfer from: University of South Florida
GPA: 3.7
Major: Health Education
I received my acceptance today! I applied on August 8th so it took a total of 58 days. It was the longest wait ever and I was constantly emailing the admissions and calling to see if my status had changed at all.
Today I found out Via checking my status that said "CONGRATULATIONS!! Welcome to the Gator Nation"and stated that my official admissions letter is being sent with orientation information.
Good Luck to everyone and be patient even though its agonizing!
