Got tired of looking through old threads so decided to make my own.
Please post your:

I’ll be applying for Fall 2016 so I haven’t submitted an application but I was wondering if anyone had any comments based on my stats? Like how likely am I to get in if I keep up my grades? I’ve had a hard time finding info. Anyways
University of Tampa
Current GPA: 3.86
Pre Prof: 4.0 (if that’s my prerequisites so far)
Major: Finance
I’ll have 2 prerequisites in progress when I apply in the Spring 2016. I’ll also have 83 credits by the time I apply lol.
If those are your last two pre reqs then I think you have a pretty solid chance at it.
Current Institution: Florida State College at Jacksonville
Current GPA: 4.0
Pre-Prof GPA: 4.0
College/Major: Finance but I was accepted into BABA. Hopefully I get into Finance. I have two classes left and they are not Pre-Profs.
@Gthang91 if you want to major in finance you should probably reapply, because the general BABA is totally different in structure. With your stats you should get into the finance program without any issues.
I am a junior at University of South Florida in Tampa. I have my AA and have a 3.11 GPA in College of Arts and Sciences Mass Communications program, specializing in PR. I have all pre reqs EXCEPT America before 1877, and America after 1877 because they ARE NOT offered at my school.
Are my chances low because of my GPA? And what do I do if these classes weren’t offered at my school?
@turkeysandwich1 I applied for Finance but I was sent an email saying I was accepted into BABA. I told them I was going to wait until I have a decision from Heavner before I accept the BABA. Also what if I happen to do poorly in my 2 fall courses?
@Gthang91 You can do poorly, but as long as you have at least a 3.5 in both Cum & Pre-prof you should be fine. They are just offering you an out by telling you that you’re accepted into the BABA program. Everyone who has a 3.0 (cum) and a 3.5 (pre-prof) is automatically accepted into the general business program.
Current Institution: Miami-Dade College
Current GPA: 3.77
Pre-Prof GPA: 3.93
College/Major: Chemical engineering
Current Institution: Santa Fe College
Current GPA: 3.66
Pre-Prof GPA: 3.50
College/Major: General Business - BABA
I applied mid May and UF had received all my transcripts by May 27.
My application was referred to my college around end of June/July (I forget)).
I received an email from the Admissions Coordinator in August requesting my summer transcripts:
“I have evaluated your admission application and want to let you know that you will be eligible for admission if you earn an A in MAC 2233 and your AA degree this semester. You need a 3.5+ preprofessional gpa and a 3.0 overall gpa so I cannot admit you until I see the grade you have earned in this course. No matter what grades you end up with this semester, please email me immediately after your grades post and provide me with a screen shot of your unofficial transcript and then send your final official transcript to UF, as well.”
Now what does this email exactly mean? If I get an A I will be admitted? Or if I get an A I’ll just be “eligible for admittance?”
I applied BABA so I should be automatically accepted with the A. (If I don’t get an A my pre prof. GPA goes down to a 3.43.
I’ve made deans list 4 semesters in a row. I’m just worried that what if I don’t make an A in this class? Would another department accept me? Or would I be done for UF?
Any help is appreciated!
The coordinator told me that as long as you meet the requirements for BABA- 3.5 pre req and 3.0 overall. She made it seem like if you meet them, you are accepted no matter what. So if you get that A, you are good to go. If you do not get an A, you can apply in the summer to CLAS and I am sure you will get in. Economics, etc.
Also I know it is early but, is anyone thinking about housing situations and roomates yet?
@EliteFootball I have a friend that had a similar situation, MAC2233 is terribly easy (it’s just Algebra). Get an A and you shouldn’t have anything to worry about.
@Gthang91 I’m shooting for off campus housing, I’m not sure house the campus housing situation works. I called and was told that orientation dates for transfers will be given out in early October.
lol I don’t know which MAC2233 you took but the one i’m taking covers almost the same stuff as the Calculus 1 class my friends are taking at FIU.
@holyranger80 I don’t even consider MAC2233 calculus, anyone who excels in math would concur. Differential eq, limits and integration consisted of nothing but algebra, after preliminary setups (toddler calc). There is a reason college algebra is the only pre-req.
Yea you’re right, I took a better look at what we were covering in class and its not what I made it out to be.
Valencia College
Current GPA:4.0
Pre prof: 4.0
Major: Finance
I’m done with all of my prerequisites but I’m taking my last 2 classes to complete my AA this fall 2015 semester. What are my chances?
@Gthang91 Seems like we’re in a similar situation. Did you get an email saying that we wouldn’t hear back until the admission deadline because of how competitive finance is?
Hey @yankees0918 I need to check my email. I was told a decision would be made in October for Finance majors. Good luck getting in!
