I am interested in transferring to the University of Georgia: Franklin School of the Art & Sciences next Fall and had a few questions. I have a 3.625 GPA and around a 1500 on my SAT test should this hold up???

Also, I have been living in NYC for about a year attending college and pursuing music out of school. I am looking for a liberal leaning artistic community that is a bit slower paced then New York but not totally dull and colorless. Am I right in assuming Athens as a prime candidate?

Any other thoughts about UGA: Franklin would be much appreciated and very helpful. If you attend what do you like and/or dislike about the university? if you live in Athens what do you like and/or dislike about the city?

If you've been attending college in NYC for the last year, you'll likely find U.Ga./Athens non-intellectual and conservative. Are you originally from GA or the South?

Consider Princeton Review's current national rankings of U.Ga.:

5 Party Schools

3 Their Students (Almost) Never Study

12 Lots of Hard Liquor

15 Major Frat and Sorority Scene

13 Jock Scools

5 Students Pack the Stadiums

A clear trend here. (Now to be fair, they also rank them #5 for Best College Newspaper and #15 for Best Campus Food.) The "Students Say" quotes include:

"The typical UGA student 'is White, from the Atlanta area, middle- to upper-class and mostly mainstream in dress and music style.' A surprising number 'look as though they were cut [with] a cookie-cutter mold. They dress the same, have the same hairstyle, and generally drive SUVs.' . . . One student writes, 'If you're not a rich kid from metro Atlanta, you'll have a harder time fitting in here.'"
