Well, these are two realistic options for me both regarding admission and finances (they're affordable and not extremely selective). I sense UIC is a little more respected than Baruch. I'll be a business major. According to USNews, Baruch has a better UG business program than UIC, but UIC is better ranked overall than Baruch is.
I'd really love to be in NYC but it is something I'm willing to sacrifice for a significantly better college. However, the college I go to should still be in a big city for which UIC is still ideal. It also gives me a little more confidence since it is not as cheap as Baruch (lol) but I know that doesn't really mean it is better. Ultimately they're both going to cost the same thing though, since NYC is so much more expensive than Chicago. So what do you think? Which one is more respected?
PS: I'm international.
I will transfer in junior year, I just can't afford the top private colleges right now.

Baruch has solid accounting and finance programs.

Baruch has a better reputation for your major (are you, perhaps, confusing UIUC’s reputation with UIC’s?). Both are heavily commuter. How old would you be? Where would you live - do you have family in either city?

What do you actually know about these two colleges? You said you’re prepared to move to New York, but are you likewise aware that Baruch has no dormitories? Of course if you have the means to rent a apartment in Manhattan the lack of dorms won’t be a problem for you.

Otherwise, the business department at Baruch has an excellent reputation.

Well, yes, I will have the means to rent an apartment for myself in Manhattan considering how affordable Baruch is. I am glad to read Baruch has an excellent reputation. It’s the most realistic choice I’ve got, especially because it’s affordable and I like its location.

You can’t go wrong with Baruch’s accounting program.
