<p>thank you very much. I knew engineering was good but im impressed by the history and poli sci rankings.</p>
<p>Its writing program is also very good (tied with Johns Hopkins for 1st). Although it's part of the English program, it deserves separate mention.</p>
<p>A caveat - be sure the rankings you are reviewing are for the undergraduate level. Rankings for graduate programs are a whole different ballgame. As you probably know, research productivity of the faculty is a very important component of graduate level rankings; whereas, the quality of teaching the subject matter to students is of prime interest to undergraduates. The graduate faculty of highly rated institutions in many cases has little or no meaningful contact with undergraduates.</p>
