University of Illinois

I've been looking at transfering to a nicer school, but tution looks like a killer so i've been trying to keep it low. UI has a philo program online, which is cheaper than where I go to school now.

I posted this in what are my chances-- I should have posted it here. oops. anyways...

To get in I believe I have to apply to UI Springfield and not Urbana. So i'm curious if anyone knows about the distance learning program and how hard it is to get in, or how hard it is to get into UI to start.

Right now I have a 3.55 after my first year at Old Dominion in VA and I plan on not applying till end of sophmore year. For ECs at school I'm an exec at the college radio station as well as working at the school newspaper and Pre-Law society. Outside of school I've had internships at an investing firm, for a VA State Delegate, and I am interning for the democratic candidate running for US Congress in the VA 4th district.

I'm not sure what Highschool weighs in but I had a 3.447 and a 1100 on my SATs then.

Anyone shed some light on this?

I got into Urbana for college. It was relatively easy and I know a few other people wtih similar stats get in for transfer. Should be a piece of cake. ur gpa isn't that bad.

Is Springfield easier than UC?

I believe Springfield is LAC and while officially somewhat connected to C-Urbana it is totally different college. Admissions numbers are not that selective as well.

If you are looking to go to grad school, don't do an online program.

Really?

I was just thinking about how it looks-- Orginally I was going to stay at ODU and go to VT online for a masters but I thought it would look better if I went to a U. of Illinois or U of Conn. online?

How do grad schools look at distance learning normally?

well for one thing, you won't get the college environment and you be able to build great relationships with professors.

SPringfield is where U of I and UIC send their rejects or people they don't have space for. it doesn't have nearly the same reputation and from what I hear, its a small and crappy school.
