Hi, i wanted to know if anyone knows about this school, it comes up whenever i do the collegeboard search, and i could get in easily, does anyone have a review of it(im from california)

Many of my kids’ friends attend the University of Kansas, and my H is an alum. The priority deadline for scholarships is November 1. It’s a fairly large school, so offers a lot of academic programs. Has great school spirit, especially during basketball season! Lawrence is a great college town. The campus is very hilly in places – not all of Kansas is flat!

They also have a four-year tuition guarantee – when a first time student enters, the tuition will remain the same for all four years. They award automatic scholarships based on test scores/GPA, which are also renewable for four years (Nov. 1 priority application deadline).

Since you live in California, I assume you would be out of state for tuition. Compared to many private colleges, out of state tuition is not horrible. If you happen to have a parent or grandparent who is an alum, and are out of state, there are discounts. There are also automatic scholarships for National Merit status.

There is an honors program, and they are generous in granting credit for AP scores.

It’s a nice school, has many outstanding academic programs, and the students are friendly. If you have not lived in the midwest before, you may find you like it a lot. I had only lived on the east coast, west coast, or overseas before I moved to the midwest. I love living in the midwest. People are very friendly, and the pace of life isn’t frantic or rushed. Lawrence is about 30 minutes from Kansas City, so a bigger city is accessible.

thank you for you insight, anyone else?

Husband and I are alums. CQ gave a good summary, so I don’t have a lot to add. I will emphasize that the campus is very pretty (and not flat). Lawrence is a great college town, more liberal than surrounding area. There is Greek life if ou want it. Honors program is very good.
