University of Maine - Admission Status for Fall 2015 Applicants

I sent in my application about a week and a half ago. I got accepted on Maine Street, but I'm waiting for scholarship information/a formal acceptance. Anyone else applying?

My daughter got accepted a few days after she submitted her common application early action, but it took a week or so before she got her acceptance letter and scholarship offer. Maine is one of her top choices, but now we wait to see what happens with a few other schools.

My daughter applied early action - got her acceptance into nursing about 2 weeks ago. This is also one of her top choices - so we’re excited! She received her acceptance letter and scholarship letter together at that time.

How do you track acceptance on Maine Street? My guy applied EA.

I got my acceptance letter two days after my Maine Street acceptance since I applied EA. @gearmom‌ it should show a green check mark by his application status if he is accepted.

Sorry but where do we get login info for Maine Street? Did you receive an email? We are out of state and not familiar with this. His SATs are a little low 1970 but hopefully his GPA and ECs help.

@gearmom I got an email after I applied that told me how to get into Maine Street. I’m from out of state as well, MI, if you cannot find it their admissions staff is really helpful. I emailed them twice and they answered within the hour. I don’t really know about SATs since they aren’t required here, but I got a 27 on my ACT and received the Dean’s scholarship.

Hey I applied Commonapp 2 days ago. Should I receive some sort of confirmation email from the school that my app was recieved? And about how long did it take to get a response? And what is Maine Street and should i have an account somehow?

@bigboy97 It took about 5 days to receive a confirmation email. The email has a student ID and activation key. After five attempts to initialize, I called for help. The activation key is only good for 45 minutes. They gave me a new one while on the phone. Maine Street is Maine’s Public School site. I only found out about it in this thread.

Anyway, results are accepted College of Engineering. Yeah! Will depend on scholarships now.

@gearmom‌ Congrats! Thank you so much for the help!

Just got my Mainestreet account. It says they’re behind in processing documents, so it lists all of my materials as missing. Was this the case for anyone, and how long did it take for your materials to eventually get processed?

Does U Maine send big envelopes or small for acceptance?

@sisgolde It is a regular envelope that says “You are a black bear!” lol. Inside they will let you know if you are accepted to Umaine, accepted to the Honors College and if you receive one of the merit scholarships. About two days after acceptance on the portal. They are very fast with turn around right now.

@bigboy97 Didn’t happen to us. Give it a few days and then call maybe.

Is the Black Bear Scholarship any Good?

@vineyardlax33 $4K instate or $32K out of state. I guess good is relative but that is probably the best someone with those stats can get for merit aid.

I applied during the “busy season” (according to an admissions counselor) and was told that I should be accepted on MaineStreet within 4-6 weeks of them getting all of my application materials. It was about 3 weeks - actually, 3 weeks and 1 day if I remember correctly. Two days after than I got an acceptance letter. (Love how they put “You’re a black bear!” on the envelope so you know before you even open it.) I only live about an hour or so away, so that’s probably why I got it so quickly.

Anyway, if anyone has applied and are trying to figure out their chances, I applied to the College of Liberal Arts and got accepted into the Honors College and got the Flagship Scholarship ($8,000 per year in-state) with a ~3.4 high school GPA and 1980 SAT (1360 if you don’t count the writing). No extracurriculars to speak of, but I did take mostly honors/ap courses and two community college courses in high school. Not a horribly packed schedule, either - senior year I had 3 study halls out of 8 available time slots for classes.

Only college I applied to, so definitely attending (and doing Honors College).

I sent in transcripts about a month ago. Did everyone who’s already heard back have to send in their first quarter senior year grades as well, or just their transcripts of the first 3 years of high school?

@bigboy97 - I graduated in 2013, so I sent in my final high school transcripts, but I seem to remember an admissions representative in high school telling me that they usually want to see first quarter grades. Not sure if it’s an absolute requirement, though. A friend of mine heard back in November last year, and while he didn’t tell me if he included first quarter grades, I’m assuming he did just because that seems to be the way our high school encouraged students to do things.

I just got the green circle on my Mainestreet that tells me everything is processed! How long did it take everyone else to find out if they got in after they processed all of your materials?
