University of Maryland-College Park Class of 2021 Discussion

Where do you see the awards tab? I don’t see any such tab in the portal. Thanks.

It’s not in the application portal. Your admission letter should have a University ID (UID) on it, that you can use to authenticate yourself online and get in to see your financial aid page, which will have an “Awards” tab (among others) across the top. I believe that the acceptance letter has a link to follow to do this. It also assigns the student a UMD webmail address.
See https://www.admissions.umd.edu/enroll/fallfreshman.php , and look at “Acquire your University of Maryland Directory ID”

My FAFSA was submitted way back in November. Should I have gotten an email from UMD confirming that they received my FAFSA? (If so I didn’t receive one) and I’m getting the same message as YoohooAddict when I log in to check for my Award.

It says my awards package isn’t ready for me to view yet and I’ve completed the FAFSA.

They don’t send emails confirming the receipt of FAFSA. As for awards packages, I don’t think the complete awards package comes out until the end of next month? The notifications that have gone out now are specifically for merit scholarships, not the final awards package.

@abrxlll @bry463 I’m getting the same message still. I can’t view my merit scholarship yet

@NerdMom88 I haven’t received anything concerning merit aid (I’m in state and have gotten things late but I’m assuming I most likely wasn’t chosen to get money) yet but the UMD admissions page posted on facebook that merit and financial aid is supposed to be released by Mar. 1st.

EDIT: I can’t see anything concerning merit aid on the portal either.

I think someone upstream commented that they had seen both March 1 and April 1. If you don’t have access by Wednesday, give them a call!

I think I answered my question and everyone else’s. Thanks for the help.

From the UMD freshman admission decision FAQs page: “For admitted students who applied by the Nov. 1 Priority Deadline, financial aid and merit scholarship decisions will be released electronically by March 1.”

Where did you find the info online?

I was told by admissions that all merit offers have gone out by regular mail already.

if we get merit money will we get an email to look at the portal?

We only see the subsidized and unsubsidized loans on the financial awards page. Is there another place to look for merit money? My son got into the Scholars program and we were hoping for something. Thanks for any help…

@WonderinginMA If you got merit money, it should be listed in the same place as the loans on the financial awards page.

@ailinsh1 Can you give me more info on the FLEXUS living. I sent you a message but not sure if you received it. Anyway, she will be in UH living in Hagerstown Hall. Wanted to know the dorm the Flexus group live and how to go about applying. I understand Flexus is for female engineer majors? Thanks.

I believe they live in Easton Hall; my daughter just went to an overnight with them last weekend and found it to be an enjoyable group. The link to Flexus is here. There is an application to fill out. http://www.wie.umd.edu/undergrad/flexus.

UMD gave me minimal merit money and I only got put into Scholars. Don’t know why they didn’t like my application, their loss!

@deeznuts That sucks m8! I heard UMD gets very stingy with their $$ but yea, make em pay for not giving ya the money.
Also, I’ve read on previous year forums that typically people who don’t get into scholars or honors get more merit money than those who do get into those programs unless the honors students get the B/K (but that’s like 150 only).

I still haven’t received any merit scholarship update. Does that mean I won’t bet getting any merit money?

If you haven’t received something in the mail by now, probably not.
