@marcymar That’s awful. I’m so sorry. Ugh.
@hannah1789 - Yes, you can do an internal transfer. Here is a link with Engineering specific internal transfer info
https://eng.umd.edu/undergraduate-transfer-admission
As far as I know, Engineering internal transfers are NOT competitive. Take the gateway courses, get the required grade, fill out the transfer form and you are in
I’m curious about the * as well. S2 excepted into Smith & there is an * after his major International Business.
Super excited!
@SoofDad thank you so so much!!
Accepted OOS - Computer Science with invite to FIRE fall 2019

Rank 12/114
Lots of EC’s.
Good luck to everyone
@hannah1789 - Just to further clarify, the Gateway courses are the EXACT same courses that Direct Admit Engineering students take.
@hannah1789 my S1 is in his 2nd year at UMD. Applied for Civil Engineering but was accepted Letters & Sciences. He was able to fulfill all gateway requirements & accepted into Engineering after 1st Spring semester. Still on track to graduate in 4yrs!
@Unitedfam4 Wow!! Thank you so much!! That makes me feel much better!! How does he like UMD? Was it hard for him to get accepted into engineering from Letters & Sciences?
Accepted fall 2019 CP Scholars!

ACT: 35
Good ECs
10 APs
Ethnicity: Asian/White
Gender: Female
Major: Aerospace engineering
@hannah1789 - engineering has specific gateway classes you can take. If your grades meet minimum you will get in. Other LEP’s (business I think) are different. I would talk with school and they can explain.
ETA - I see your question was already answered more thoroughly!
Same here. 100% complete but now it says scores submitted 12/1. Thinking College Board screwed up but it did not show up on the checklist until today. Really frustated for my senior and we can not clear it up now until Monday. Hoping he doesn’t have to wait until April.
@hannah1789 he absolutely loves it! Getting ready to take him back tomorrow for Spring semester. He worked hard, but still had a ton of fun, all while making Dean’s List! Good luck to you!
@bestmanager1 & @bjr829 Here is a link I found regarding LEP for Engineering. I don’t know for certain, but I think the * after the major just means there are criteria for Direct Admits in order to remain in the program. Here’s the link: https://lep.umd.edu/engr-lep-after.pdf
My status still has the checklist in Coalition app and I am EA. Did everyone get their decisions?
The FIRE program is offered to anybody. You have to opt into it and it’s a research program for extra credits.
Freshman connection is a way for people who got in for the spring semester to start in the fall. There’s basically no difference except FC kids take later classes (3-9) and usually get crappier housing (but not always). They also get last pick of classes for second semester but I was FC last semester and it was barely a problem. I have friends who are FC and who aren’t, you can’t tell the difference at all. It’s a great program and I’m glad I decided to do it.
@ppxyz123 there are more than a few students on this thread who have no decision due to missing items so check your checklist even if it says “100% complete”
@ppxyz123 - Did you apply to a special program like music? My son decided to double major with music as his second major and he did not hear anything today.
If you get scholars are you considered for a scholarship. When would you hear about it?
@reads2222 nope. It was for CS. Checklist and scores all show complete status. But dont see anything else
@Goldendaisies7 - The Checklist shows everything complete and application recd by Oct 25
