@collegelifeeeee - Getting into Scholars does NOT mean that you are getting a scholarship. Applying EA makes you eligible for scholarship consideration.
@ppxyz123 - Call the admissions office on Monday. I have heard of people getting their decision in the next week or so after they follow up.
OOS NJ. Accepted in CS (Major: Computer Science (07010)Advising College: Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Science) and FIRE(research and innovation). What’s the heck FIRE? - no disrespect, never heard about it. I hope my summer research exp helped to garner it.
@ppxyz123 I share your frustration and confusion. I wonder if it may be game over for students who applied to an LEP or needed scholarship money to attend.
Son accepted as CP Scholar. When do they inform you about the scholarship? His letter does not mention anything about what college he got into. Should I be concerned?
When Coalition says 100% complete, you might have seen checkbox/warning that they don’t include about recommendations and ACT/SAT scores. My school Naviance sent it. I followed up with UMD and they said they got it everything. I screwed up on Purdue from College app and it was relegated to regular though I submitted on 10/31. I should have used Coalition for Purdue too.
@antontupai - His letter should list an Advising College. Scholarship decisions come out mid-February
Son accepted into Honors college, Computer Science major
Stats:
in state
GPA: 3.8 UW, 4.65 W
SAT 1520
SAT subj 800 Math II, 800 Physics
7 APs. and other advanced science/math/compsci coursework (vector calc, thermodynamics, quantum physics etc)
govt lab research internship and a few interesting ECs
We are also having trouble with the Honors college form. It seemed to fail out but apparently it accidentally submitted 7 blank choices and they already sent him an email to fix it. He is researching the programs but the site isn’t giving us a great feel for them so if anyone has a good rundown that would be nice.
@cshigh - FIRE is a terrific program
College/major are listed at the bottom of the letter.
OOS and accepted! Got into business school and invited to CIVICUS living and learning program. Does anyone know anything about that?
@cshigh I got an email from UMD saying they have recd everything. And no warnings in the checklist either. All of them show Complete with dates recd. Will call on Monday. Maybe they release decisions in batches?
To be clear, being accepted into College Park Scholars does not mean you are getting a scholarship - although it’s understandable how the name of the program could make you think that. You may, but you may not. Scholarships will be awarded in a month or so.
@SoofDad Can you please provide more info if you will, what it will add and how it supplements to CS. IS it similar to Honors?
Daughter accepted OOS; decision came around 2 pm.
Major: Journalism
1500 SAT, 4.427 weighted GPA, 11 AP Classes (Lang, Euro, US History, Physics 1, Calc AB, Calc BC, Bio, Govt, Econ, Psych, Lit), 2nd decile of class
@ppxyz123, definitely in batches. All is not lost, keep up the hopes. You did what’s necessary - email etc. Same as me. Good luck. Are you instate or OOS?
Does anyone know if UMD provides any scholarship and what $ to OOS?
@cshigh thanks. OOS
@cshigh - I have no personal knowledge of the FIRE program. In my opinion it is better than Honors, in that it provides students with hands-on Research opportunities and it admits fewer students. My D was in Honors and has graduated.
