Idk if anyone has been waiting for it to be posted, but the cost of FC 2019 was posted today on the umd fc website.
Very helpful @imadreamer19
So for OOS kids, it looks like FC Fall tuition will cost $14,145 ($13,101+965+75) vs Regular Fall tuition which will cost no less than $17,608 (last year’s full tuition divided by 2). This is a savings of $3,463 (give or take a few bucks).
Sounds good to me.
Am I missing something?
I got a letter in the mail yesterday that said they were “excited about my interest in computer science and”
“We’d be delighted to have you visit to learn about our programs for academically talented students. If you’d like to meet up with a current CS major let me know and I’d be happy to set things up”
Anyone else get something like this or have more info? Was it sent out to all comp sci kids or honors kids or something?
Same here. Handwritten letter - weird.
Are they going to send letters in the mail?
My daughter received her invitation to interview for Banneker Key just today.
My daughter received one regarding biology. She was accepted into the Bio Program - Honors.
Congrats! Do you mean Coalition updated today or received a letter today?
She received a letter in the mail. Apparently she also got an email as well.
Maryland or OOS?
@terranmn OOS
congratulations first!
Do you mind me asking what here grades & Sats were? They lead us to believe that my son had a chance at
it, but haven’t received anything yet. thank you.
@lovemycats if you are asking me then here are my daughter’s stats:
ACT:35
SAT:1550
SAT subject tests: Math 2: 800 Bio:770
Unweighted GPA: 3.9
Weighted GPA: 4.7
OOS
She was accepted into Biology (limited enrollment program) as Honors.
We hired an essay coach so her common app essay was extremely unique to her and she also included an additional essay under the “additional info” section which focused on her 360 hour capstone research project (Biology focused) she was required to do per her high school program. Holistically she looked awesome. I honestly think this is key.
Friday we received an invitation to interview for the Banneker Key scholarship in the mail. My daughter also received an email stating that she should be receiving the mailing (I think the day before the actual mail arrived).
On the same day that the Banneker Key interview invite arrived in the mail she also received a handwritten letter from someone from the class of 1996 which focused on interesting things the Bio dept has been working on, etc. and inviting her to visit the school.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Other schools she has been accepted to: UNC, UK, University of Rochester, University of Wisconsin, Deferred from University of Michigan.
Still waiting to hear from: University of Washington, Northeastern, USC, and Brown.

Thank you. My son also has similar grades.
Was accepted into computer science & honors as well & applied to U of R, & northeastern as well as othe private & state schools. Good luck. Thank you.
This just caught my eye? What is this about? My son had also been accepted as a computer science major & we are OOS.
So what is the handwritten letter for exactly?
Mine was similarly about things the CS department was doing and saying we’d like to have you visit. I got into the honors college and had 1540 SAT but I don’t think I got the Banneker Key interview or whatever. In state btw.
Accepted
Major: Journalism (LEP)
GPA: 3.6 W
ACT: 27
OOS
Good EC’s
Hey does anyone know when/where any financial aid or merit will come out for accepted honors students? Thanks!
@survivingIB - Probably towards the end of February
