University of Maryland-College Park Fall 2017 Transfer Discussion

@DragonFire16 let me know what happens!! I’m still waiting on another university to get back to me with a decision but I am not sure if I am going to receive it before UMD’s is due and I am really skeptical of being admitted.

@ShwiftyPugs admissions told me on Monday that financial aid will be release in June.

I called admissions today about not getting any email. They said that I was supposed to send an enrollment verification form since my credits in one college is in progress even though the email I got from them said itself that I do not have to do anything, and I’ll get decision by mid-April. They were gonna consider me for regular decision once they get the form, but I appealed since it was their fault.

UMD Admissions is a mess.

This whole process has me infuriated. If I have to wait until July to get a decision, I honestly cannot see myself attending Maryland.

I called today about not receiving a decision…they said that its because the computer never sent my application to the right files for priority and that i had everything turned in on time so its not my fault & they gave me the contact info of the lady to email to get a decision within the next week. They said its happened to a few other students & that im still going to be looked at as priority and that they apologize…I wanted to cry so bad like I already waited a week for a decision now I have to wait another week for something that isn’t even my fault. Nonetheless I emailed the lady and I’m just still keeping my prayers up. This whole thing is really just a mess though i hope they do better next year.

Apparently my high school took weeks and weeks to send my final high school transcript so they received it way past the priority deadline, so I’m pushed back to July. I have housing deposits due before then, so no UMD this year I guess. I can’t believe my high school. I was told UMD delayed decisions this year because of late materials, but clearly that’s not true because they pushed me back.

I contacted undergraduate admissions and I told them that I was an undergraduate student who applied as an internal transfer to the Business School and they told me that for internal transfers to the Business School they have not released the decisions yet and that they will probably get released next week. This wait game sucks lol

They would never delay a decision because of incomplete materials. Im not sure what the delay was about but it definitely was not because of incomplete materials. They are serious about people submitting their documents on time.

Just got off the phone with them. They told me that one of my transcripts had never been received although it showed as received on the status page and that they were going to correct it.

@amandak98 what was the email that they gave you? I want to reach out to them myself as well to ask what’s going on.

they told me to email applymaryland@umd.edu & in the subject put “attention: katie kluetz”. She’s the head transfer application person thingy so everything regarding transfers goes directly to her; she’s not in today so I couldn’t call her but they said with the subject title they would send my email directly to her inbox. UMD admissions emailed me back to confirm that they got my email.

@amandak98 thanks, you rock!

@RealSpacePope you’re welcome! hope everything works out

it seems like everyone that just didn’t get a decision had different reasons for not getting one. the lady told me that “some people just didn’t get their decisions yesterday” which seems like a whole lot of bullshit to me. I’m calling again to see what the next person says as well

@sbk0021 @AndradeJ This whole process is such a mess. I cant seem to get a hold of anyone who knows what they are talking about. Front desk lady at Smith said that since Carroll Community College doesn’t have a listed equivalent for BMGT 230 in their transfer credit services, it is not possible to transfer directly into Smith. I personally think that’s probably total bs. And when speaking with admissions all I get is them saying they can’t see my personal info so they cannot help me and I will just have to re-apply as an internal after I take B-Stat at Maryland.

@orvanik she obviously does not know what she is talking about. They told me the same thing that my business stat would not transfer and then i showed them this website http://www.artsys.usmd.edu and they saw that i did transfer.

@sbk0021 @ShwiftyPugs that’s incorrect actually, financial aid will be released on May 3rd according to the financial aid offices

really cannot figure out why UMD is having so many issues with this. I have lost SOOO much respect for them as a university with all of this. Can’t really see myself going there anymore, even if i were to end up getting in.

The equivalent of MATH115 from your college is STAT100 for umd but it transfers as BMGT230 if you are a business student. Some of these credits have footnotes that specify that if you apply to a certain college in umd it will transfer as a different credit but many advisors don’t bother looking at the footnotes so you have to point it out. @orvanik

@AndradeJ I totally forgot about artsys. I might have to bring that up. I finally got a contact email for Nick Orban who is a director of LEP. I will wait to see what he says. I understand if I didn’t get in, but I want to make sure it was for good reason and not because someone in admissions messed up my transfer credits. And based on what I have gone through so far I have a good reason to believe they messed something up.
