@KarMarc Sure, no problem
@gn31997 I’ll just assume your post is directed to me. A week after submitting my app back in February, I noticed that it said incomplete because a transcript from one of my colleges is missing. I emailed admissions, and they said I don’t need a transcript because my credits are in progress. On Thursday, I didn’t receive a decision email so I called this morning. They said that instead of a transcript, I should have mailed an enrollment verification form instead. I then emailed Katie Kluetz to confirm this; she replied immediately to say that the first info I got was right - an enrollment verification form isn’t required and that I should expect a decision sometime next week.
I called UMD, and all they want for me and the other people who I know in my sort of “limbo” situation is that they want my transcript sent in, and they will respond by July 15th. I’m going to go ahead and enroll in Fall classes at my MD CC, and I can just withdrawal and get my money back before a certain time, if UMD then does accept me.
What I am just wondering is, am I at a higher priority than those who applied during regular admission? I applied in priority, and I got postponed, so I hope I am since I had everything ready by the deadline…
I still did not receive a reply from Katie even though I emailed her this Friday and nothing has changed in my portal besides the fact everything is submitted and completed and do I call 301.314.8385 or 800.422.5867?
My daughter was put in the “postponed” decision group as well because, even though she had a 4.3 GPA in High school and is currently on the Dean’s list at her college, she did not take the required Math (neither of us remember reading it was REQUIRED to be accepted.) She also plans to take the Math over the summer at CC. So she was told she should be “confident” because most in her situation were declined. Find it ridiculous all that were “postponed” upon receipt of final transcript have to wait until Mid July for a decision. Especially since all here did what they needed to get their information in on time. Very frustrated to say the least.
The admissions office told me today that they send the decisions out in two batches, so if you haven’t heard yet then you should hear before the end of next week.
@momo12 the office closes at 4:30 pm on Friday and doesn’t open again until Monday at 7:30 am. I messaged Maryland Admissions on twitter and they got back to me today over that, so if you really want a response I would try that.
I hate how everyone from the admissions committee says something different. In reality there was no way in hell that admissions decisions were to be released in two batches lol. all priority decisions were released on thursday, umd’s twitter even confirmed it. what happened was some people who applied for priority had individual issues with their application & some people’s information never got sent to the correct area for priority so they had no choice to resort to releasing the others this week. it wasn’t planned to happen though, idk why they told you that.
@ProudMom2012 So most people who were postponed are declined? I feel like basically they pushed us out and into the “rolling admission”…
Hey guys! I’m an international student and I got accepted this Friday with my first choice major computer science. I’m transferring from India. How is life at UMD really? I don’t know much about the non academic portions of it. And wait when do they evaluate the transfer credits? Since I’m already a sophomore I wanna make sure that enough of them are transferred and I don’t have to repeat.
@salsal97 hey, just out of curiosity, what were your stats?
@sml101 No they weren’t declined. The woman in admissions said most who did not have the Math and/or English and were current Freshman were declined. But since my daughter had good grades, they didn’t decline her, but still pushed her out to the regular decision group. She explained it that “her application wasn’t even looked at yet!”!!
@proudmom2012 I am in the same situation as your daughter but I received absolutely nothing - no emails or any notifications regarding to my decision nor was I even postponed! I only completed the english req and I am taking the math req right now this semester. Earlier this fall I emailed someone from the apply umd administration and they said that I would still be considered for priority even though I am a freshman who only took english last fall and not with math together.
@sml101 The person I talked to said earliest we would hear would be mid June. I’m hoping it’s not mid-July. They also said we are given priority over regular deadline people.
@momo1212 You didn’t get any notification at all??? It’s just infuriating how each person you talk to over there says something different as well. My daughter is driving from her college in PA tomorrow and sitting in Admissions until she gets to speak to one of the transfer admission counselors face to face.
Does anyone know if we will hear about financial aid before May 1st?
I’m in the exact same boat! I was in MTAP, I checked with them multiple times to make sure they had everything and they said yes. Then when decision release day came around, I got nothing because apparently they didn’t get my fall transcript. I’m still in the process of trying to work everything out but it’s extremely frustrating. It makes me feel like I went through all that trouble for nothing.
Did anyone receive a reply from Katie? I emailed her because I had a question regarding the app, but it’s been two days and she hasn’t replied. I emailed her Friday night.
My daughter emailed her on Monday to try to get an appointment to meet with her in person. She got a response today saying “she is out recruiting future Terps” so can’t meet with her…but to email her any questions. So she did and got no response back…
Nope! Kinda frustrating
