Thank you, Found it at the bottom, Direct Admit to CS.
OOS
Rejected for CS. OOS 4.0 and 1470 SAT. 6 APs and all honor classes. NHS and lots of clubs and activities.
We applied for CS but it just says admitted to Carillon Communities and at the bottom the advising college is Letters and Sciences. What does that mean?
My kid got this same
For those saying direct admit…does it say anything beyond the major?
For my daughter it says:
Major: Education: Elementary Education (Pre) (0802L)
Advising College: Education
Does this mean direct admit?
Yes
Direct admit only applies to limited enrollment programs like CS, business, neuroscience, etc. where some students have to pass gateway requirements to get into the major in the 2nd year.
That means you did not receive a direct admission into your (LEP) major. You will need to meet gateway requirements to get into the major later. Details are available on UMD’s website.
How difficult is it to transfer into CS if admitted to Letters and Sciences?
my email says, thank you for your continued interest in UMD. does that mean anything or everybody’s email said that. little scared now
have not checked it yet
Not very difficult.
Details are here:
I’m working with a student who got in for spring (freshman connection), OOS. Has anyone had any luck appealing this decision with updated grades and test scores after being offered for spring? She is trying to walk on to an athletic team and timing of freshman connection classes may not work well. TIA
You may have been deferred.
Good luck! And let us know.
what did your email say?
D23 admitted for Studio Art
Honors College, in state
1560 SAT, 4.0 uw GPA
National Hispanic Recognition Program
Lots of art awards and strong ECs, part time job
Does anyone know when merit awards are announced?
Unfortunately you cannot appeal a Spring admission decision.
