University of Maryland College Park

Would you guys say that UMCP is easier to get into OOS than Wisconsin and illinois, or is this not the case?

Does UMCP care about the application essay, recs, ecs? (i sure hope so)

Does UMCP like seeing a student from OOS who can pay full OOS tuition, does not need financial aid? I mean college is a business…

thank you to anyone who can answer these questions!

bump bump bump

My regional admission officer at College Park told me that he doesn't always read an applicant's essay. In fact, he said that he usually won't finish one unless it's written very nicely. So...I'm guessing essays aren't the most important aspects of Maryland's evaluation.

thank you. could anyone answer the other two questions please.

bump

hello out there???

To answer # 3 ...NO.

They will get their money (FED/Scholarship) and I believe if they did it would be called discrimination

Oh BTW Of course they care about essays, and recs why would they ask for them. I do believe they use it as a tie breaker, not their determination. Remember UMCP does not count SAT writing, thus they are looking at the essay

can anyone answer question #1 please??

thank you to all!

umm UMD is my state school, so it's easier for us but I'm pretty sure it's decently tough to get into OOS. I'm pretty sure Wisconsin and Indiana are easier. UMD usually takes 2000 range sat for OOS applicants and a pretty high gpa. If you don't meet those credentials exactly.. I'd still say you have a chance... they accept ALOT of kids

^30% OOS. That means you probably need to be somewhere in the 75th percentile to have a good chance at getting in, score-wise.

It would be easier to say your chances if people knew your stats...SAT, GPA, ACT, etc.
