University of Michigan AP's

For the University of Michigan, I know my grades are not nearly high enough as they need to be. I just started my junior year and so far my average is increasing and I’m starting ACT prep within the next couple of weeks so I’m getting on a better track. I took 1 AP as a sophomore and I am taking 1 as a junior. I am taking like 6 AP’s next year but I feel like submitting 2 AP grades classes is way too few. Will Michigan see that I am taking a lot as a senior and take that into consideration, or will they just see that by the start of my senior year I had only taken 2. HONEST FEEDBACK PLEASE

Don’t worry your fine. My kids school was the top school in our state and only had 2 Aps his junior year but his school was all honors. In Senior year he took 6 Aps with Multivariate Calc, (and aced them all). Yes they look but more important is they look at senior grades. GPA and rigor are 2 main ingredients. What is your unweighted GPA now?

Are you instate or out of state?

They will see, and take into account, anything you provide. This includes both your senior year course load and your Freshman to Junior year course load.

Most importantly, they look at your grades over all four years along with your course rigor.

As a current student at the University of Michigan, I can say that the application process is very holistic. So although a rigorous curriculum may be important, they also look for an upwards trend and extracurriculars that stand out. Essays are extremely important so I would focus more on that rather than worrying too much about the APs that you have or have not taken. I know people with amazing stats that did not get in and those that may not have the best stats get it.

I am interested in out of state. I currently do not have my unweighted GPA because we are between marking periods. If I had it I would most definitely share it because I am looking for DIRECT FEEDBACK.
