University of Michigan Class of 2023 - Deferred Applicants

My son is an RD applicant and sent his application in around Jan. 5th. It was uploaded immediately. His GC sent the midyear report in around the 15th or 16th and it also showed up right away. So they are definitely uploading it. There might be a difference between early deferred and regular? Regular will always require a midyear.

Also, @2019md, UMich has shut down non-essential functions till at least 7 am tomorrow (Friday). Can’t recall if that would include Admissions but it could well be that if they are up and running, they are working with partial staff-power. That might slow things down a bit.

Thank you @JBStillFlying, I called the Admissions this morning, they are closed.

Are they going to delay the release of the results because of the snow? I’m pretty anxious now cause my “View Decision” tab is still there.

Ugh mine is too. What time have they disappeared in the past?

Like pretty close to the release they disappeared.

Does anyone know when deferred applicants will hear back? and what time

In theory tomorrow around 5:00pm Eastern time.

If the admissions office is/was closed Wednesday and Thursday, then there may be a delay in releasing decisions. No one here has reported a “decision tab” disappearing yet, which in the past, was an indicator that decisions were imminent. And in the past, disappearing decision tabs have been reported days (and hours) prior to decisions being released.

I hope some decision tabs start disappearing soon, unless UMich changed their MO. Maybe tomorrow, when admissions goes back to work.

Does it mean anything if you are allowed to set up parent/family authorization on the New and Prospective Student Center?

my child has that now too. I don’t think that was there before???

I opened that parent/family authorization - the fields were already populated - must not be new

@Mominmich - had you set it up already? Ours weren’t populated but we were able to set it up. Guessing it’s not part of admissions so doesn’t matter and might be something everyone can do. Highly doubt it signals anything. In December, another state school with a similar student center allowed the accepted kids access to parts of the portal a good half-day prior to sending out EA decisions so it’s happened before (but perhaps not for UMich).

Was it the University of Wisconsin? I swear my daughter’s UW portal had everything up and ready for an admitted student just prior to her actually acceptance.

@Mominmich - yep. My son was able to use handshake to apply for internships LOL. What a goof up! Hopefully Systems will close up that hole before the next round of decisions.

Where do you see that option / info?

UM Parent / Family Authorization ? It was not there earlier… fingers crossed

@bearden where did you see it

I thought the Parent/Family Authorization was there all the time, am i wrong?

It was definitely already there
