University of Michigan Class of 2023 - Deferred Applicants

From the stats that were posted, it looks like the “definite acceptances” got in last night / today (at least the majority of the acceptances were of this caliber). The stats of the kids who have posted so far have been incredibly impressive, way above the minimum needed to get into Michigan from out of state. They probably move down the chain so to speak in subsequent acceptance waves.

accepted to LSA!
oos (california)
3.96 UW, 34 ACT superscored (33 composite)
4 major ECs, a ton of smaller ones
sent in LOCI
no mid-year grades.
I think my essays were what got me in, and I also made my LOCI very short and sweet to the point where all it really conveyed was my intense desire to attend.
go blue!

Still hesitating if I should send a LOCI because I read the deferred letter over and over again and it says not to send anything that’s not asked for because the materials they have received are more than sufficient to make a decision although they do encourage me to send recent, strong grades… any advice from those who were accepted yesterday? Do you think LOCI plays a big part in your acceptance?

Did everyone who received acceptances last night or today see their “View Decision” link disappear late yesterday? Has anyone had the link disappear today?

Has anyone gotten the acceptance email yet?

ACCEPTED after deferrall!!! Didn’t get an email but checked and saw!
still waiting on Ross

I GOT IN

Accepted
1420 OOS
sent in my LOCI January 12 and Transcript the 23 so was not excepting such a quick decision.

So it sounds like everyone who has heard has been accepted. No denials this round?

ACCEPTED into LSA!!!
OOS (ny)
32 act
3.9 gpa
sent in LOCI, no mid year grades sent in
very surprised but suuuuuuper happy!!! GO BLUE

Did anyone get an email?

Concerning LOCI, I personally do not think it helps. I wanted my son to submit a LOCI, but he was adamant that it was clear they didn’t want burdened with any additional materials other than grades. He was accepted last night without submitting a LOCI. There have been several other posters that were admitted with no LOCI.

to add on to my comment #709

fyi I got the good deferral letter & sent in a LOCI
no email but I just checked the portal and saw
OOS to LSA, waiting on decision to Ross

1560 SAT, 4.4 gpa, 3.98 uw gpa

Was this at the bottom of everyones DEFERRAL?

"Strong recent grades that are available before mid-February 2019 may improve your status in the deferred pool of applicants. Therefore, please ask your high school counselor to forward them when they become available. Beyond that, we are confident that the information you have given us is more than sufficient for a final decision. The most successful candidates send us only what we require. Please refer to the website https://umich.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2080 for FAQs about the admission process and what to do next.

We hope your interest in Michigan continues. You have our best wishes for an enjoyable and successful end of your senior year."

It was the exact same for me. I was not accepted yet - still waiting. I sent a LOCI a few weeks ago and mid year grades will be sent on Monday.

Also, to anyone who sent a LOCI: did you get a response back. I never got a response back, but do have the “good deferral letter”

I assume you still have the “view decision” link

is there a “bad” or alternate deferral other than the above mentioned?

got the acceptance email about 20 mins ago!

@Nymommy123 I don’t think there is a good/ bad deferral letter
