University of Michigan Class of 2023 Early Action

What does everyone make of the Reddit rumor that decisions start the 14th?

Last 7 years of EA release dates:

Anything is possible, six years ago, UM released EA decisions on Friday 12/14, but @SingingBusDriver, a likely UM admissions insider, stated here Wednesday 12/19. And this date fits with the prior two years.

Just tried to check my wolverine access and the site is down… maybe this means decisions will be today?

Saying the last 2 years were on Wednesday’s, and @SingingBusDriver said Wednesday, my money is on then

19th

Hi I am a current UMich Freshman admitted under early action last December and remember all to well trying to figure out when they would release the notices! The time stamp on my email was Thursday 12/21 at 1:10am! But I did look on Wolverine access evening of 12/20 and the decision was there first. I started seeing other post that they got their notices and then I looked! Good luck everyone and Go Blue!!

does anyone know when EA heard last year? I know they said before December 24 but i was hoping for a more specific date

12/20/17, which was a Wednesday so we’re most likely going to find out starting 12/19

It would be phenomenal if decisions were released today right? I applied for preferred admission to Ross, I imagine that decision comes later than EA? (If I get admitted to LSA under EA)

The next few days are gonna be awful haha. I would normally say I’m confident it’s gonna be the 19th, but my other early came out a day before they had originally said it would, so now I’m on edge for everything!

where are decisions released, on the portal? im a little confused by the set up of the thing

@momzilla2D “Of course, Michigan doesn’t know which kids applied ED elsewhere, so they may defer top candidates just in case.”

How do you know CommonApp is not selling their data to colleges? like Facebook does with all of our Facebook activity. Or maybe CommonApp sells the data to “consulting firms” who then are hired by colleges to provide guidance on who to accept in EA process.

I do not have any information that this could be happening but we should all know that it could be a possibility.

Last year decisions were in the portal then an email followed. Ross decisions come later and are even more frustrating as they are released in waves over several months!!

wait, so do you guys know if schools can see if/where you EDed? because I EDed somewher, but i got rejected so I hope that doesn’t affect UM’s decision

@prouddadd2020 aliens are a possibility also

Chance me?

i don’t understand why they would defer/reject people just in case the person ED’d somewhere else because Michigan releases decisions after most people have heard back from their ED school. Wouldn’t those who were accepted from their ED school already have withdrawn their EA application to Michigan by the 19th? i feel like that solves the ED issue

Decision letters may be sent out to applicants after ED notification dates but UoM Admissions still doesn’t know which applicants applied ED/possibly accepted.

Deferring High stats candidates in the first wave insulates them from becoming high stat applicants’ default safety school and preserves their yield targets.

@projectmgr but I’m saying they would know which applicants got into their ED school because when you get in you are obligated to withdraw all of your other applications

I hear what you’re saying - but technically it’s the ED school that compels you to accept an offer of admission to their institution per the terms of the their ED application.

While students are compelled to accept the ED school’s offer, I don’t believe most accepted ED students take the time to inform all other non-ED schools they may have applied to nor are they compelled to legally.
