University of Michigan Class of 2023 Early Action

I got in EA which I did not expect, and I am basically unofficially committed. I’m still waiting on 10 schools but I’d go to mich over all of the schools I’m predicted to get into. I’ve lived in Southern California my whole life (if you couldn’t tell by the username) so although I’m so excited to go, I’m very scared about adjusting to the winter weather. Are the Michigan winters actually as bad as everyone says? Will the weather ruin my experience? Please give me truthful answers

This might not be the best week to ask that question, @socalsnr! I was born in So Cal but moved to sunny Michigan when I was two weeks old, and, while I love lots of things about Michigan, extreme cold and snow are not on that list. It’s pretty awful this week.

That said, you’ll probably spend most of your days inside, and at least a bit of winter weather can be beautiful (and bracing), and the fall and spring can be absolutely lovely. If you’re excited about Umich, don’t let the weather change your mind! (If nothing else, you’ll appreciate Christmas break in California more than ever.)

In acceptances to Michigan, I think California is like 3rd with something like 1600 students like each year. It has not deterred them from coming. Think about the positives… If you don’t want to go outside you will have more time to study inside.

@socalsnr Daughter is at USC and not envying her brother that will be Class of 2023 at UMich. We are from Illinois and it is cold like you have never experienced. With that said, I say go for it but it will be rough.

Anyone in Delhi recieved package yet

Guys please be considerate enough to answer my queries

It’s very imperative that I recieve the package guys

I recently moved to Northern California after living most of my life in the Mid Atlantic and Midwest (including 4 years at Michigan). I can appreciate why @socalsnr would be concerned about a real winter. However, winter’s not that hard. You will wonder if the sun will ever come out again for many months. It’s spectacular in the spring when it finally does.

A big part of college is experiencing new things. Living in a place with seasons is very different and it will you give you an appreciation for that way of life. I’d get a good coat and make the most of the new weather experience.

Hi I got the hail scholarship, did any get accepted with the scholarship?

You may find ways to love the winters here! Embrace winter and seek outdoors activities (like skiing). Never expect for spring to start at the end of March. We have snow in April pretty often! If you can save money, fly home once or twice during winter. Having some sun for Christmas and later at “spring” break will do miracles and you will enjoy coming back to Michigan! Good luck and Welcome!

@ma1231 Is the HAIL scholarship for instate students?

@Ranipetgirl Yes, HAIL is for instate students.

Thank you@ assemblingphilosophies

I got deferred in December w everyone else but I’m wondering if Michigan accepts letters of interest?
Does anyone know, I know people who did it but my college counselor and website states they do not accept it,
