University of Michigan Class of 2023 Regular Decision

@hopefulchild @huttens That is not correct. My DS applied RD and was accepted 2/2/2019. His application was sent in mid-January so it was quite a surprise. OOS CoE

@cody333 when exactly in january did u apply in the first half or in later half? Can you please share the stats. my son also applied in mid january but later half.

@Cody333 oh wow thank you for that information! Would you mind sharing stats (I am applying to the same area)? I submitted my application in the first week of January but I have not received any decisions yet. Does this mean I am a likely reject? Does anyone know when the next wave is coming?

@friend1976 @hopefulchild I think U-M’s rolling out results based on the college. From what I’ve seen, most if not all results that have come out have been for the LSA, so if you / your child applied to another college, they may come out later.

@aatd2 unfortunately, I did, in fact, apply to LSA for their Comp Sci major, which led me to worry :frowning: I have a 35 ACT and a 3.88 uw 4.2 weighted (cannot take APs until junior year and pretty much all Honors classes are unweighted)

@hopefulchild It’ll also depend on when you applied. I submitted my application late Dec and received my decision early Feb, so it was about a month. Best of luck!!

If you don’t mind me asking, what were your stats and what college did you apply to within U-M? I submitted my application around the same time and am wondering when I will receive a decision.

@ttheartist I applied and was admitted to the LSA (indicated interest in the Residential College and was accepted into that as well). I had a 33 ACT (34 superscored) and 4.48 weighted (3.98? unweighted–not sure of exact number since my school doesn’t officially report them). But remember that admissions is holistic, so don’t rely on stats to compare!

I hope you hear good news soon!

I was admitted to Engineering RD on the second and I just received an email inviting me to the Leaders and Best Weekend. I did a google search and couldn’t find any information on it. Has anyone heard of this before/have any information about it?

@UVAmom23 Im from tx and i have ut austin. Chances of me going to umich are 0% unless I get a significant scholarship such as stamps

Could somebody please chance me??? I’m oos from Wisconsin 3.97 GPA (school doesn’t do weighted) ranked 22/568 with 6 AP Classes altogether, apes (5) apush (5) and apbio (4) so far. 31 ACT. Student council and HOSA competition, work in a nursing home, volunteered in nursing home and currently volunteer at urgent care clinic. I also am an teachers assistant for ap bio and did an interesting interview with a uw Madison professor about women in science that was on the news. My why umich essay talked a lotttt about my fit there and the specific clubs and classes that I would take part in as well as why I want to enter my major of biology. The activities essay I talked about the nursing home and why it made me want to go premed, and the community essay I talked about being a woman in science. My common app essay was about how working in the nursing home changed me as a person. I have good letters of rec both from ap teachers (I TA for one of them). I’m a jack Kent Cooke scholarship semifinalist, first gen, and pretty low income.

Hi. I got into LSA on 2/2/2019!

@yaleivyleague UT Austin is a great school. You are lucky to have that in state. Our in state option is Ga Tech - also lucky! Out of state is hard because there is very little merit.

@lizas19 I also applied RD in mid-January, received my acceptance to engineering on 2/2, was invited to the Leaders and Best weekend but could find no info on it either. Since transportation and lodging was covered I tried to accept the next day and it was already full (50 students) by that time. I’m on the waitlist but still have no further info on it. Have you received your packet in the mail yet?

@Cody333 No. I got into the weekend (or at least I assume that I did because I got a confirmation email that didn’t really tell me anything. I haven’t gotten any more info since then and I’m still waiting on my acceptance letter in the mail.

My son received his acceptance letter yesterday. He’s applying for dual-degree and the acceptance was from music. For music performance major, stats are not that important and the scholarships are given by the level of playing and the need of the instrument. Here’s his statistics, 1500 PSAT, 1590 SAT, 36 ACT, full IB candidate, NMSF and Presidential Scholarship Candidate.

I read a post on the thread for Class of 2022 saying there were two waves of decisions: 2/2 and 3/2. Of course, this might not apply to decisions for 2023, but it’s something to look forward to. I know many of us are probably anxious. 3/2 isn’t too far away. Fingers crossed!

Does anybody think we could get decisions today with the EA deferred wave? I submitted my application the day before the deadline, just because I was waiting to be accepted to a scholarship (Jack Kent Cooke) and I am a semifinalist so I wanted that on my application. Is it bad to turn it in so close to the deadline?

@Jordynklongland No, equal chance as long as you turn in before the deadline. My S was admitted . He turned in on the last date.

He was admitted today? @f2000sa
