I have no idea what my chances are. Im an oos low income first generation college student. I have 3.97 UW GPA, 31 ACT, 6 AP classes once I graduate that I have scored 2 5’s (APUSH and APES) and a 4 (AP Bio). I am a Jack Kent Cooke scholarship semifinalist, i volunteer at an urgent care, work in a nursing home, am a teachers assistant, tutor an underclassmen in AP Bio, went to a women in science interview on the local news with a UW Madison professor, and was in HOSA and still in student council. I have good letters of recommendation and i worked really hard on my essays. Activity essay is about how working in the nursing home lead me towards premed, community essay is about women in science, and why umich essay talked about specific clubs, classes, and how I am a good fit for there school. I know that nobody has ‘good’ chances at a school like this but I am just curiouis because I know my application demonstrated a lot of interest, yet I am out of state and my stats are average. I was accepted to UW Madison and University of Florida and waitlisted at UNC Chapel Hill (out of state)
@Jordynklongland I see you’re applying from Wisco too, I submitted my app on the last day too, the admissions office claims that there is no difference if you apply close to the deadline. Also, they do not read the applications in the order in which they have been submitted. Otherwise, do not worry about chanceme’s here. Essays will make or break you. And people here cannot read your essays. My concern is that if you look at the demographics at Umich, they do not seem to have many kids from wisconsin enrolled, only a bit over 100 coming in. I expected more because we are so close.
Has anyone heard from Stamps that was RD?
Hey guys ? I have a question,
So my counselor just recently submitted my mid-year grades. I went on my credentials tab to see if they got it , but by Recent Grades prior to mid-Feb it said “waived”. And my decision tab is gone. Does that mean they’ve already checked my application ?
@liliwww16 Not sure what the “waived” means, but a disappeared decision tab is usually a good sign that you are going to hear back soon, I would guess this Friday. Best of luck!!
Where is the decision tab normally found? I don’t see one
When you ck your admission application status, at bottom centered in the middle there a 3 choices:
view application date-view credentials-view decision.
I have never had a ‘view decision’ tab
RD applicants would not have a “view decision” tab. EA Deferred applicants, who are now considered RD applicants, would have a “view decision” tab.
Having said that, a disappearing decision tab usually indicates a decision is forthcoming, maybe hours, maybe tomorrow night at Midnight EST, or I’d guess probably next Friday based on prior historical patterns. However, since the above poster has 1 post, I’d be a bit skeptical for now, until others (only EA Deferred applicants) begin to post disappearing decison tabs.
Also, a disappearing decision tab, for EA Deferred applicants only, has a high correlation with an acceptance
anyone with the disappearing decisions tab get an update yet?
My son applied Feb 1 - not sure why he waited for that last deadline but he did. Expectations of him getting in are pretty low, but he wanted to give it a chance. We do not have a decisions tab. Not sure if that means anything for not. Wishing everyone good luck.
@PopUpZone1921 Good luck to your son, the decision tab only shows up when a decision is ready (so EA deferred applicants are the only ones who may have a “disappeared” decision tab)
Hey PenguinR, I applied to Stamps at the end of December, and they received everything on the first of Jan. I have not heard back yet, and I don’t know of anyone else that has. Best of luck to you!
@PopUpZone1921 don’t worry about submitting on the deadline. They do not care as long as it is in, the only issue would be if you submitted late.
So do decisions come out in waves, like Texas, specific for each school? Or would engineering and LSA decisions be released on the same day? How often are decisions posted?
LSA, CoE and Ross SHOULD be released on the same day, though Ross is scheduled to be released at 5:00 PM EST and LSA and CoE are usually released at Midnight EST.
The smaller schools of Kinesiology, Nursing, SMTD, etc. appear to have their own timelines.
What about Stamps School of Art and Design?
Do people who get decision early summit application early? I submitted at Feb 1. I probably get inform late.
@r5r11r I submitted last day as well. Apparently, from what I have read they do not read applications in order, and there is (within reason) no correlation between submission and notification
