Apart from from Ann Arbors national recognition, and the recruiting that goes on out there, what is it in comparision to Dearborns market?

Its a long ways away to be looking for a job for me but depending on were I go (Dearborn or AA) my feelings have always been to leave michigan in the future. I know recruiters do come from out of state to grab AA kids, but what oppourtunies do you have in Dearborn? Is it more of grunt work, like you have to get yourself out there on your own or is it in the realm of being stuck working for the Big 3? since someone told me dearborn is dead end for out of state work. (no im not an engineer major either)

No one that I have talked to had any knowledge about this topic, should I call dearborn and ask them?

I attended Dearborn, and I can confirm that the school does not have good connections with out-of-state employers. That is not to say out-of-state employers think poorly of University of Michigan – Dearborn students, but rather they just do not actively recruit there. It’s probably more of a question of visibility. I’d venture to say that most out-of-state employers know nothing about the school (the administration has done a terrible job of branding the institution with its own unique identity. They have attempted to clutch the UofM brand in, what has been my opinion, a vein effort to match the intensity of the flagship campus).

If your goal is to find work out of state, and want to have a lot of networking resources put at your disposal, then I would not suggest attending Dearborn. Finding work out of state wouldn’t be impossible, but it would definitely be a self-realized effort.

“self-realized effort” , so instead of recruiters coming to you, you go to the recruiters? is it that easy or that hard lol

I would ask if the recruiting events in Ann Arbor are open to system students. You did not say what your major was, but search the Ann Arbor website and call whoever organizes the recruiting events for that department.
