detroitnr1, Well, I only have 3 classes (one is 3 credits) but they’re all A’s so i’ll give it a go. I’m relieved that I might not be waiting until April though! Michigan is absolutely where I’ll go if I’m accepted, so the sooner I know the better.

Yeah, I have some other good alternatives, but no schools gives me the same “feeling” as Michigan does.

I only have 4 classes this year, but all AP’s and all A’s.

I’m just worried because my grades this semester aren’t as good as they usually are

Is anyone else just wallowing in self pity right now? I’m pretty devastated.

anyone else shocked they got deferred? let’s all be sad together.

I think we can all agree that a lot of us have stats that warrant admission. We can’t say for sure why we were deferred and some other people were accepted, but we can hope against hope that our first semester grades are enough to pull us back from the deep.

My biggest fear is that since there’s no such thing as a rejection for EA, that I’ve already been rejected and they’re just too kind to tell me.

I’m also devastated I got rejected. I dont think my stats necessarily warranted an acceptance though. I will be sending in my 1st quarter and then 2nd quarter grades when I get them (so pretty much whole first semester).

I’m also considering getting another letter of rec from a teacher I have this year. Does anyone see value in that? I already have 2 recs but this class is what I want to study at UM and the teacher loves me, I have a 99 average.

@ersync They mention in one of the deferral letters that you should only send what is required. Consider each additional thing you send as a sort of strike against you, and consider whether the content of what you send is more than enough to make up for the strike.

@pointlfnor3turn the one that @detroitnr1 posted

@pillagerguy what is your opinion on what I should do if my grades this year are higher than my cumulative GPA? I know they unweight your classes so one of mine will go down, but I’m not quite sure what I should do. I do have one very poor grade on my report card, so I’ll have to decide based on that.

Absolutely send in first semester grades if they are good. I’m saying that extraneous letters and such might be a bad idea.

It’s okay now because I just got a crap ton of Taco Bell to eat my feelings of failure. 10/10 would recommend this coping method.

Bright side: didn’t get rejected!

How soon do they start the rolling admissions process? Since we obviously will be the earliest applications to review in the RD pool, could we know as early as January/February of our final decision? I do not want to wait another 4 months for my decision…

@nolives Nobody got rejected. Who knows if anyone’s deferral is really meant as a way of giving the application some time?

Deferred with 32 act and 3.97 uw gpa. Tons of ec and everything. I got the good deferral letter
