Aww… I was actually admitted to Mich Engineering before I had time to withdraw my app (I was admitted to Rice ED). But I have withdrawn now, so hopefully it goes to someone deserving that got deferred 
I know a lot of people are bummed about deferral and I felt bad getting admitted even though I already got in somewhere else. 
subkartik, congrats on your D’s acceptance to Chicago. Chicago is certainly unique and for the certain kids it’s not a tough decision to choose one over the other regardless of ranking. I do believe that kids end up where they should and if they don’t then they transfer. If she’s made up her mind, and many do in December and January it would be gracious to let UofM know. It’s never about how many brass rings can be captured and more about getting in somewhere where the young person will thrive and succeed. If the student is interested in advanced degrees the trajectory can be surprising indeed and the undergrad can be the horizon in the rear view window. My oldest son’s roommate scrapped through a much lower ranked college than either UofM or Chicago by the skin of his teeth and just finished his MBA at Stern. He got in on the strength of what he did with that barely gotten BA for a few years before he went to grad school. Overthtopmom, even with multiple generations of UofM grads, I still think UofM’s campus is sorta ugly with the exception of a few older buildings and north campus is somewhat pretty but sometimes feels like a separate universe - I’d take Chicago’s campus anyday but Ann Arbor has it’s charms in totality

I received my acceptance stuff in the mail today! I also received an invitation for a special event as a Top Scholar from the College of Engineering. Does anyone know exactly what it is because there isn’t much information on the postcard they sent me and I can’t find much online. Like how many people get it and a Top Scholar is (I don’t remember applying for anything outside of just umich/college of engineering)
I recieved the HAIL scholarship and I was accepted EA! College of engineering

Is OOS FA as bad as someday it is? It is now the only remaining factor in my decision.

so y’all might have discussed this in the earlier pages but im not really feelin like going through all those pages to find an answer.
so my friend tells me that there are different versions of the deferral letter?! He says that your version will determine when you receive your decision. my letter basically said that “you’re very qualified but due to high applicant volumes, we are deferring you. please send us your 7th semester grades but beyond that we are confident you have given us all that we need. you will receive a decision by early april.” my friend tells me that with this one i’ll be getting a decision by february instead.
so did anyone receive anything different than that? or is my friend just trolling me? clarification plz thanks!
Where are people from who are receiving the hardcopy admissions letters in the mail already? Also, can someone upload a picture of the hardcopy admissions letter?
I’m in state and got mine yesterday. It seemed to be word for word the same as the email but I don’t remember exactly
@janecarol I checked everywhere and there isn’t an email, and on WA I can’t find anything that says ‘view decision’ or anything. I confirmed with them after I sent my application that everything is set for EA, so I’m just scared now that it got lost somewhere or they forgot about me.
I got it in the mail today. A letter was similar to the email and it came with a really nice acceptance piece that resembles an award or diploma. Very cool. Don’t have a picture right now but I will upload if someone really wants it.
Same happened to me, I’m registered for EA but haven’t gotten anything yet…
