@desiindian597 It is not a fixed number of days. If you submit your application really early, they may not even download your application for some time. A couple years ago, they started downloading CommonApp data around the end of September and they did that by batch with increasing frequency towards the deadline.
I think my ACT score report just sent out to colleges yesterday. Is it possible to see if University of Michigan has it even before I submit my common app?
And a second question: does Michigan consider 2 letters of rec? I know they only need one, but I have 2 for other places I’m applying to. If both are sent in, would both be considered?
Yes. Indeed, you can have more than two.
I was wondering the same thing, as I have two teacher recommendations being sent in.
You can only submit additional LORs to the number allowed on CommonApp. It used to require two but allowed up to two more. Now it requires one but I am not sure what is the limit
limit. CoE actually said at least one from Math or science teacher on their social media.
Does anyone know when people can expect to hear back from UMich? I applied EA already and am really anxious.
EA applicants won’t hear back until just before Christmas.
Last year it was on the last Friday before Christmas, Dec. 19th. A good guess is to fiigure it to be Dec. 18th this year.
You will get an e-mail after submitting application. As of now, that should happen within a week as they should have started downloading data regularly. The e-mail will tell you to set up an account for Wolverine Access to check the status. The admission result is typically announced the Friday before Christmas. Sometimes over a few days even in weekend.
Got another email this evening saying that " You are qualified for early action at M"; looks like all the material has been received…now the wait starts!!
Submitting my application at the end of this week for the College of Engineering (aspiring Aero/Astro)!!
Just a little concerned about the winters because I’m from Southern California
Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it once you’re here long enough. Though I wouldn’t really know, I’ve lived here all my life.
For someone on the lower end of the admissions criteria for U of M, would it be more beneficial to apply non-preferred admissions for a better chance at getting accepted into the school? I’m planning on applying preferred admissions to the Ross School of Business and that’s what I based my third essay entirely on.
@GPECK14 I think applying preferred admission to the Ross School of Business is exactly what you should do, especially if you so earnestly want to be admitted that you used your whole third essay to talk about it. I think it would give you an edge to your application and really show how you would take advantage of what UMich has to offer. But you have to be accepted into a freshman level school or college first. Then you’ll be evaluated again for the school of business and hopefully admitted there later. You should check out this link. The info about preferred admissions is towards the bottom. http://admissions.umich.edu/apply/freshmen-applicants/requirements-deadlines
@CluelessCathy Thank you so much! I will definitely check out that like as soon as I’m done whipping up a conclusion for my third essay ^:)^
My question is similar to @GPECK14. If I’m applying to Ross as preferred admission, should i write my third supplement just about Ross, or incorporate LSA also because thats where i have to apply to first.
Is anyone going to the Slice of Life event this Thursday?
I went last Tuesday to the Slice of Life event. It was really helpful.
Applied EA to nursing w. ACT 29 and weighted GPA 4.0…chances?
