University of Michigan EA class of 2020 thread

I’m sorry you didn’t get in! Did you get your letter via email? I’m still waiting to hear and figured I was denied because it seems most people that have heard were either accepted or deferred. The waiting is killing me because all of my friends have heard.

Does anyone know if there are or will be any official statistics posted on the thus year’s EA admissions?

@GoBlue217 There is a way to delete or suppress AP scores. Last year I could not figure out how to suppress but deleted my Calculus score…as if it never happened. Then you can send all the scores to colleges. I thinlk it helped me get into some tough schools. Validates quality of high school.

Yeah

Was also wondering if no one got rejected and they either accepted people or deferred them? It seems like only deferrals and acceptances on this page

@mom2ljr UMich recalculate uwGPA without subgrades. Just take the average of A (4), B(3), C(2), and D(1) from all grades and classes. They will evaluate the course rigor separately but both are very important.

So i got deferred from the college of engineering. My high school counselor and I will both be sending email out because U Mich is my top choice. I was wondering if another email from the interviewer from the HAIL program would also help? He said he would be willing but was unsure whether or not it would truly help. Any advice?

Not sure I heard the answer to the question re if anyone gets rejected from EA or just deferred??

@blprof
Thank you for your insight and have a Wonderful Holiday!

Accepted - 36 ACT, 2340 SAT, 4.0 GPA unweighted, 4.5 GPA weighted, straight A’s with all AP/Honors classes, elite volleyball athlete (3-year Varsity, club volleyball with 3rd place at nationals), viola in orchestra, OOS, white, female

@luvmydog1 I was wondering the same thing-anyone get flat out rejected from EA?

Does anyone know about the email about applying for LSA honors? Does everyone get this or only a few people and has anyone got it yet?

@abab97 Congratulations! Is Mich your first choice? Where else did you apply?

Hi everyone, I’ve been refreshing and reading every comment for the past two days (especially those about deferrals) and I’m really worried that I got the “bad” one…I’m trying not to lose a positive attitude about it, because right now I am motivated to work hard to keep my grades up this semester before finals, but hearing everyone on here say they got the “good letter” makes me nervous. Do you think I have less of a chance to get accepted? Or are the deferral letters random?

I was admitted to the College of Engineering at roughly 3:00 p.m eastern on Friday.

35 ACT
4.0 GPA
Competitive NYC High School
Good EC’S

However, what I believe was most important to the admissions officers were my essays. I made them as genuine as I could and felt they accurately represented my character, views and daily life. When I was in “research mode”, I remember seeing a video in which the dean of admissions mentioned she loves reading supplements that give the vibe of short stories - unique, yet revealing of one’s life. If anyone has any questions about stats or essay writing, feel free to tag me or send me a message. Best of luck to all deferred and to all RD applicants scanning this thread!

@macintosh3D
You have to write an essay to get in the LSA honors program. It is a selective program. If you get in you can live near the center of the campus with other Honors Program students. It’s a great attempt to give a large school a small community feel hanging around other honors students.

Anyone else not get an email yet?

@Jiwonie Not yet either, but I’m assuming they aren’t working over the weekend on decisions.
