DS just got the email inviting him to apply for LSA Honors. He was accepted EA last week and is a legacy.
I also got the LSA Honors email, do they send this to everyone? If not, does anyone know how many?
Does everyone get invited to apply to LSA honors?
I still haven’t even received an email yet, nor has my Wolverine Access been updated. Should I assume by this point that I have just been rejected?
How many people have still not gotten any email at all? I applied to LSA with Preferred Admission to Ross. I am also qualified for the HAIL scholarship if accepted. Wondering if anyone else is the same and whether they’ve heard anything yet? I’m assuming I’m deferred, but sure would be nice to get a confirmation email of some kind.
@anas12m Yes; From their page…
“Any student who is admitted to U-M LSA may apply to Honors. Some students, based on their high school performance and test scores, will receive a letter outlining the Honors Program and welcoming them to apply. It is not necessary to wait for such a letter, nor does it imply preferential admittance.”
Son got an invitation email to apply to honor college this morning too.
STOP BRAGGING OKAY? WE KNOW YOU’RE AWESOME - Jk, I’m just bummed that I got deferred :’) Congrats
@JDUP837 I also applied to LSA and am eligible to receive the Hail Scholarship too. I haven’t received anything yet and it’s making me so anxious …
@subkartik @ @uguysrhype @JimHarbaugh While some may feel better thinking that they were deferred because U-M feared they were a safety for Ivy League, I’ve yet to see a 35- or 36-caliber student deferred on this thread. THEY are the ones who may be realistic Ivy League material.
Sure, U-M may be letting in some of the “sure things” scoring in the lower 30’s, but if you didn’t get in, the reality may be you are stellar enough to get in yet. You’re caught in the middle. Just sit tight for when they open regular decision.
@ShouldBeWorking I got deferred with a 2320, top 5%, strong involvement in ECs. I don’t know, just saying :’)
One day of good testing does not overcome lackluster GPA performance over 4 years. You gotta have the whole package.
@jiwonie I hope they aren’t automatically deferring all the HAIL scholarship eligibles. I don’t know if I can wait another couple months.
McKilla99 In-state? OOS? GPA. Strength of school. Essays. Leadership versus involvement. Community service. Unique candidate or cookie cutter achiever? So many variables.
.
@JDUP837 Actually a couple of my friends are hail scholarship candidates and they were accepted, but they were all notified on Friday.
@ShouldBeWorking My daughter got deferred with a 35 and 4.0 and she got accepted to Stanford. I find it funny that the deferral letter said “Strong fall semester or trimester grades may improve your status in the deferred pool of applicants.” How much stronger do they want?
@jiwonie How do you know if you are eligible to receive the HAIL scholarship? Is it everyone that is low income? Or do they just select a few individuals as candidates?
@AcceptableName I received a packet in the mail a few months ago that told me I will receive the Hail Scholarship if I get accepted. And it’s not everyone with low income. I believe they chose a 1000 people
@Jiwonie Well, that’s a bummer.
