Can anyone here attest to the transition from a community college to UMICH? I was accepted just under two months ago. I was also accepted to UNC and USC. If anyone has any insight as to how they might compare to these other schools I would appreciate that!!! thanks and best of luck to everyone else!!!
Hey everyone. I just finished up my first year of university at an out of state institution. I applied to UM as a high school student with roughly a 3.8 and a 25 on my ACT but with great extra curriculars, board positions, essays, and rec letters. I was asked to send in my senior year fall semester grades. I sent in a 4.8 GPA (because of AP and dual enrollment) and was rejected. I applied again as a transfer student in the fall of my first year of university. I had a 3.2 GPA but with multiple upper level science courses. I was asked to just inform the office of credentials that I would like to reapply for the winter of 2018 and they will renew my application. So I did. I earned a 3.9 my second semester. With my dual enrollment courses and my 2 semesters at university, I am looking at a 3.6/3.7 GPA. I had great essays and rec letters for my transfer application. I also am very involved on campus and have lots of extra curriculars. I should hear back in roughly a month. Does anyone have a good idea on what my chances are here?
@BryanB200 Currently I’m not taking any prereqs. That being said, I’m missing a few prereqs for CoE. I think I will get rejected due to me missing a good amount of prereqs.
Hi guys, I’m thinking of applying for transfer in my junior year. Can you tell me if I have a shot or not? I’m applying to the college of business. For personal reasons, I decided to wait and apply next year.
I’m a LGBT Asian woman from a middle-class family. I am currently attending a community college in Michigan as an OOS student.
College GPA: 3.945
Number of credits: 65, but I think only 62 of them are transferable
Major: Marketing
Minor: Possibly Psychology?
EC: Honors program (for which i serve as the first international liaison ever and also an ambassador), founder & director of the program’s orientation project for international students, member of PTK (I got offered the Presidential Scholarship too), Vice President of a LGBT ally club, tutoring students on campus, percussionist in a community band, core member of a national charity organization’s marketing department (as a high schooler), member of my high school’s leadership club.
Letter(s) of Recommendation: 3 from my psychology professor, my economics professor and my employer at the tutoring place. They all basically said that I am very bright and extremely diligent.
Essays: I work very hard on them and have them checked and proofread by the writing fellows. Overall, they said I have solid ideas and made myself appear as a student with potentials and ambitions. I also take my culture and upbringing, my fight with homophobia and bulimia nervosa in for a more unique perspective.
High school GPA: 3.44 (unweighted). I have an Associate degree instead of a diploma because I cut high school short to do GED.
SAT: 2010 (taken in 2014)
I am very anxious. I have been reading threads about transferring to U of M dating back to 2011 and it seems like even the best people got rejected
@irisfaefire Hey, you’re a lot more qualified than I am and I was accepted as a transfer student so I would say your chances are pretty good
3.5-3.6 gpa, 60 credits, Economics major
EC: community service (~300 hours), A couple of other clubs, Taekwondo (6 years, black belt), Badminton (4 years, Manager)
1 rec letter from my business teacher
act: 28 sat ~1800 [They apparently don’t care about sat/act if you have 60 credits in college]
The only notable thing about me is that I have an actual job in the field I want to go into (I’ve been working in the finance/insurance industry while going to school)
When will Ross notify students of their admission status?
