@Reborn2537 Awesome! Congrats! I am also a CoE CS applicant and am excited to hear someone get a decision back! How were you notified? Wolverine Access? Also, where exactly in Wolverine Access should we be looking? I’ve been going to “Students” --> “New & Prospective Student Business” --> “Application Status” and looking for a “View Decision” link that has still not revealed itself :(. Am I going to the right place?
Accepted!
Was notified to School of Information through Wolverine Access! There will be a “View Decision” link that you can click on to see whether you are accepted or not.
Good luck to everyone!
Omg whyyyy is U-M so expensive for OOS students :’(
@lexluther96 It’s actually less expensive than may private universities and offers substantial need-based financial aid to OOS students. Did you apply for aid? Otherwise, the cost is something you should carefully evaluate.
Sometimes financial aid jumps ahead of admissions and posts your financial aid award in “award summary” before admissions lets you know you have been accepted. So, another place to check if you want to perhaps find out a little sooner. If it says zero, that is normal until an award is made.
Also, May 1st is the general deadline for making a deposit and committing to the school if you were accepted and did not receive an extension. What that means for those of you who have not yet received an admission decision or have been told to wait until mid-May is that perhaps admissions has to tally up the deposits received to know how many slots are still available. It may also be because some piece of your application came in late and that impacts your place in the rolling admission process. So, all is not lost if you have not yet heard, but you may need to be patient a bit longer.
Yes. You are doing exactly right! I kept doing the same thing you have been doing for like 3 weeks until finally, the link appeared one day( Finally yesterday morning ). I hated that message "Available Links will vary based on application "…
Good luck! Hope you see in Ann Arbor.
@lexluther96 ,have you gotten your official financial aid report ?
@lexluther96 UMich is expensive because it’s a public Ivy League school and the #1 public research institution in the United States. I wouldn’t expect anything else…
@noleeeeee I am a current student there and umich is not an ivy league, but it is the #1 public university in the US.
@lpd512 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_Ivy Public Ivy is totally what I meant. But yeah, case in point made with #1 public university.
Hey guys. I got accepted as a transfer to LSA for Fall 2017. Since then, my second semester grades have fallen to a 3.3 from the 3.75 I was admitted with. Do you know if this will cause my acceptance to be revoked? I applied with sophomore standing and do intend to take additional courses over the spring/summer. Thanks for any input.
@rndopasserby Probably not because that is still a B+ on a 4.0 scale.
What do you do when there isn’t any housing available on the housing search? I tried contract reassignments but there aren’t any posted. I really don’t want to do off campus living my first year.
@M_Koch98 you find an apartment. unfortunately housing is not guaranteed for transfers
Oh great
Anyone else not get their decision from CoE?
Not yet
@Iapplyanywhere Still nothing…
@Iapplyanywhere @flashheed I’m actually curious about something. Are both of you also currently taking required courses for your major?
I am just finishing up Physics II and Linear Algebra this semester (both required prerequisite courses for transfer to UM as a CS major) and am wondering if admissions is perhaps intentionally waiting until we send in our spring transcripts before sending out a final decision.
One reason I suspect this is that, judging from the UM Fall Transfer threads of years past (2012-2017), it is not at all uncommon for CoE majors to be admitted well into late May.
Also, Georgia Tech explicitly informed me that they were not going to send me a decision until my prerequisite courses were complete. I know GT is not UM, but their CS programs certainly are neck and neck so I would not be surprised if they adopt similar policies regarding these kind of things. Just a thought.
@BryanB200 I’m an international transfer and haven’t completed the pre-reqs. My course structure is different and I won’t be completing the pre-reqs anyway
