Hello. I was recently admitted into the University of Michigan and wanted to get an out of state idea of financial aid. I contacted the Office of Financial Aid yesterday and they said that even though out of state students do not receive 100% demonstrated need, they give OOS students a “good package”. If anyone has received their out of state financial aid package, can you give me your opinion on whether the aid is good or not? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Hi. I am OOS and received an extremely generous package. It covered nearly 100% of my Cost of Attendance not including my merit scholarship. My EFC is 0, however.
Check their NPC. Anyway, you should receive your Fa package soon if you havn’t.
My son was offered $22K in grants, some loans, and work study. We don’t count loans and work study. However, after son submitted the required paperwork, his grant was decreased to $16K, leaving us with a $41K “cost to attend”. Our EFC is $18K. My son will not be attending U-Mich unless we win the lottery before May 1 or some outside scholarships come through. BTW, for OOS engineering majors, the cost of attendance goes up to $60K in the junior and senior years.
Tuition increases for all students once the student reaches 55 credits. So, better check those AP credits.
