University of Michigan Honors Application: Advice?

Hi,

I'm trying to apply for University of Michigan's LSA Honors program. The only thing is, I didn't get an invite to apply... My ACT score is one point too low, although I have the grades and I believe I have exceptional extracurriculars. Just wondering if anyone had any advice on what the admin officers would really love to see in an essay, how competitive getting into Honor's is (especially if you didn't get an invite), if extracurriculars and/or grades can help make up for a mediocre ACT score, and whether or not current Honors students find the program valuable.

Also: should I submit my essay as soon as possible? The Honors website seems to stress this. Is it easier for students who submit their essay earlier to get in?

Any help/comments would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

Advice, anyone? Please?

I have the same problem! I missed the act score cut-off by a hair. I would really appreciate if someone answered these questions!

I am in the process of writing my essay. I am trying to get it done quickly, but with midterms and all the other things in my life, it is taking longer than expected. Is it a problem that I still have not sent it in yet?

Hmm I didn’t even know you could apply without an invitation. Can you do it before you are accepted? If yes, do you guys mind sending me a link to it?
