Which is better University of Michigan or UCSD for mechanical engineering and the overall college experience?

Michigan has the better program and college experience.

What are your tution costs? Also, what's the dollar value of the better program and better college experience?

i got into UCSD ME as well...UMich's ME is ranked higher, but i dunno. SD's ME is supposedly #11 in some rankings. if you don't wanna leave CA stick with SD but if u want the better program go with Mich

^^UCSD would be around ~20k (instate) and UMich ~$40k

it is basically double the cost for me to go to UMich which has a (slightly) better program.

also i would have to take out a lot of loans to go on to graduate school (which is a likely possibility).

is UMich undergrad better than a UCSD undergrad + UMich grad school (for example)??

Graduate school doesn't often cost much, does it?

Professional schools (law, med, biz) cost a lot, but PhD programs are almost always fully funded (tuition and stipend). MS programs are somewhere in the middle, depending on the school and major.
